They Said It!: Sens. Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), And Former Sen. Bill Bradley (D-NJ) On Samuel Alito
(title shortened for length)

SEN. TED KENNEDY (D-MA): “You Have Obviously Had A Very Distinguished Record, And I Certainly Commend You For Long Service In The Public Interest. I Think It Is A Very Commendable Career And I Am Sure You Will Have A Successful One As A Judge.” (Sen. Ted Kennedy, Committee On The Judiciary, U.S. Senate, Hearing, 4/5/90)

SEN. FRANK LAUTENBERG (D-NJ): “I Believe Mr. Alito Has The Experience And The Skills To Be The Kind Of Judge The Public Deserves – One Who Is Impartial, Thoughtful, And Fair. I Urge The Senate To Confirm His Nomination.” (Sen. Frank Lautenberg, Congressional Record, 4/27/90, p. S5281)

FORMER SEN. BILL BRADLEY (D-NJ): “[T]he Confirmation Of Sam Alito As U.S. Attorney For New Jersey Is Testimony To The Commitment He Has Shown And The Success Of His Efforts As A Law Enforcement Official. I Am Confident That He Will Continue To Do All He Can To Uphold The Laws Of This Nation With The Kind Of Determination And Vigor That Has Been His Trademark In The Past.” (Sen. Bill Bradley, Congressional Record, 12/8/87, p. S17427)

OMG, you must have watched Fox news at noon. That's almost verbatim what Shamu said..., "it's 15 years later now (hiccup) and...blah, blah, blah..etc., (hiccup)."

You bet....however, I heard it early this AM...it was Bob Beckal(sp)that was spouting this...early AM. You could tell he'd already conversed with other dembos in what the talking points were against this nominee.

Even before the dembos started their talking points...I knew those 15 yrs on the court...would be used against him. "We supported him once, but no longer due to his opinions on the court." Even though these dembos keep spouting we want someone who'll NOT legislate from the bench. Which I believe that's just what Alito HAS NOT DONE.

The dembos continue to prove they're liars...when in fact this is just what they want from the bleeding heart liberals on the bench.

You can now faint! :)

From RNC Email:

SEN. ARLEN SPECTER (R-PA) ON
JUDGE SAMUEL A. ALITO, JR.

Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA): "I've known Judge Alito through the better part of two decades. He sits on the Court Of Appeals for the Third Circuit, which includes my state of Pennsylvania. He brings to this nomination a very distinguished record: was in the Solicitor General's Office, was U.S. Attorney for New Jersey. He has been on the federal bench now for 15 years. We are in the process of assembling his opinions. It is estimated that he has been involved in about 3,500 cases, has some 300 opinions which he has written. So that we have a very good idea as to his approach to jurisprudence." (Sen. Arlen Specter, Press Conference, 10/31/05)

Thus their dem base will clearly see who they have aligned themselves with.

Thus, exposing the special interest groups that fund those scumbags.

Thus, exposing RINO'S.

Majority of AMERICA is Red States. (Wish I had a map pic)

Now take the CA Blue State, add in the TX Red/Blue state, and let's talk about illegal immigration.

Put that on the '06 and '08 campaign platform.
WHAMMO, you got Red States getting redder, and Blue states in trouble. (At least looking at the high electoral vote states).

JMHO.

"That was then, this is now."

It's called relativism...whatever works for the moment. It's standard operating procedure for the left.

Scalito is promising, but he is not a black female . . .

Much easier for the Dem's to appose him and his record than JRB. Scalito may be a superior judge, given his experience, but I think she is a more staunch conservative.

Still, he is not Gonzo (like me, please like me), the abortionists' bestest friend.

As long as we get a war, then fine. Graham and the other compromisers better get ready to choose sides, even if that means they choose the wrong side. No more conciliation, mo more 'unification' and no mo mercy.

Let's dig those Kennedy and Schumer and Wattenberg quotes out and slam them with them while they attempt to slime Scalito. Let the PFTAW spew all they want, let NARAL screech like the harpies they are - cry havoc, and loose the dogs of WAR!

Watch out Ruthie, here comes Scalito! Breyer - get thee behind me, internationalist!

Dems who voted for Alito
http://www.confirmthem.com/?p=1762

So to follow up on Erick’s mention of Alito - I thought it might be instructive to take a look back to Judge Alito’s first confirmation - in April of 1990. He was confirmed by unanimous consent - reported favorably from the Democrat-controlled Judiciary Committee by none other than Joe Biden.

Better yet - nineteen currently serving Senate Democrats were part of that unanimous consent.

Christopher Dodd
Joseph Lieberman
Joseph Biden
Daniel Inouye
Tom Harkin
Paul Sarbanes
Barbara Mikulski
Edward Kennedy
John Kerry
Carl Levin
Max Baucus
Harry Reid
Frank Lautenberg
Jeff Bingaman
Kent Conrad
Patrick Leahy
Robert Byrd
Jay Rockefeller
Herbert Kohl

For those keeping track - that’s almost half the current Democratic caucus in the senate.

I had heard that he was unanimously confirmed to his current seat.

Yes 100-0 or UNANIMOUS CONSENT! I believe he was also confirmed 100-0 to a District court prior to his appointment to the 3rd Circuit.
