D'oh!!

From the President's nomination speech:

In 1987, President Ronald Reagan named him the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, the top prosecutor in one of the nation's largest federal districts, and he was confirmed by unanimous consent by the Senate.

I guess we needn't look further. The source doesn't get any more official than this! Thanks, onyx. My loony Senators will hear it from the Top Dog. ;o)

Specter thumbed his nose at the administration and party, stating that he would reject any extremist (ie, original construction) judges.

Gee...what I heard from him today sounded very encouraging and supportive of Alito. Guess we'd better blast him til he changes his tune, huh?

"Allen and Warner from VA are for Alito. I just called."

Allen I wouldn't worry about. Warner on the other hand....

I'd keep the cards and letters coming.

"I think we should be contacting our DEM senators. Most of the Pubbies will pay with their base if they go against Alito but the DEMS need to know that we're watching and we care and we will fight against them at election time."

You're point is a good one. Keep in mind that Democrats have primaries as well. It's good for politicians to be reminded of that. Even an unsuccessful opposition in the primary is quite expensive.

Conservatives have been pretty quick to use primaries as a way to (try to) enforce discipline in the GOP. That same dynamic works in the Democratic party.

I heard DeWine on Hugh Hewitt where he said the same thing. Also was NOT happy with Schumer.

Emailed my thoughts yesterday to DeWine and Voinovich. Plan on calling today......let's hit him hard. Dewine is up for reelection and this should remind him of who elected him

Is DeWine up for reelection? After I posted that I started to wonder if I was wrong.

If you scroll down the thread, you'll see that DeWine's comments came after I posted this thread.

We have already put pressure on him, and he's responded.

I read his entire conversation with Hugh Hewitt, and he is solidly on board with Alito, and deserves thanks from all of us.

Great! Let's keep the pressure on the fence sitters, and the Dems in Red States.

DeWine spoke very favorably publicly yesterday on the Alito nomination.

Treat him tenderly, and make sure that conservatives in Ohio continue to call him to keep him on board.

DeWine's solidly on board. Haven't heard a peep from Voinovich. He could use some pressure too, but we haven't ever heard back from him with an e-mail.

(And yes, DeWine is up for reelection.......which will help keep him making good, conservative decisions).

Thank yous to DeWine are in order.

He's not wavering a bit, and that needs encouragement from us.
