I know nothing about Alito, other than that Kennedy, Kerry and Kompany, don't like him. Can anyone fill us in on his stand on abortion and other important issues?

There are a series of articles about Alito HERE .

He's a solid conservative with a long track record and indisputable credentials, and has been on the President's 'short list' from the beginning.

Remember - this is one situation where SNAIL MAIL is the most effective form of communication.

If you print a letter, add a handwritten note - they need to see the human touch to believe it.

Definitely...and don't hesitate...send now so it gets there soon. Earlier they are convinced, the earlier they turn the tide in convincing others.

This man is very, very qualified..He sticks to the law..
We may not LIKE the law but that is what he bases his decisions on..

That's the real deal! A true moderate nomination! :-) (unless we consider "upholding the law" to be conservative)

A letter a day keeps the Rats and RINOs away!

Write 'em up. Stack 'em up. Mail one a day.

Very good point onyx. How is it that these people keep wanting to change the rules? Could it be that the ONLY thing they care about is the ABORTION issue. Could it be they are afraid of losing the poor deceived females votes from NOW? and Planned Parent Hood and other such organizations? My God the way they instantly zero in on the abortion issue would make one think that the only important LEGAL issue facing the country is whether they can kill babies or not. And Frankly I don't know WHY Arlen Spectre was ever trusted with the Chairmanship of the Judicial Committee. He can't be trusted. He said he could. So now he MUST adhere to that. I wanted to vomit yesterday when I saw him with the nominee and he blurted out " Everybody knows where I stand on a woman's right to choose"!! Yeah buddy, where do you stand on a baby's right to be born?

We can't even get them out of the Senate chambers today! If there was ever a reason for having a US Senate, it escapes me. What a bunch of pompous butt-heads!

Isn't Graham a Christian tho? I had always thought he was. It was my impression that HE anyway, joined the gang of 14 to try to STOP a filibuster NOT necessarily make any deals with the demons. IF push comes to shove, he'll support a nuke option I'm sure.

What will be interesting here is McCain. He obviously wants to run for President. It had better be made known to him that the CONSERVATIVES don't like RINO's and especially don't want a RINO President. He can start changing his stripes in THIS vote. He had BETTER be for the nuke option IF necessary. I will admit that I have less faith in McCain than Graham however.

BTW, other than telling Specter that he believes that the right to privacy is guaranteed under the Liberty Clause, how does he feel about gay marriage?

Would he be willing to undo the will of the people of a dozen states for the sake of gays' "privacy"?

Are we selling protection of states' rights and the sanctity of marriage for the sake of what someone speculates he would do about abortion?

Looks like we have Graham, De Wine and Specter are with us for sure. McMedia is still playing coy but he made an intresting remark today about "Elections matter". I think McCain will grandstand on this for as long as he can.

Whoo hoo sounds good. I like hearing talk of supporting the nuclear option. After all the trouble they made for President Bush during the Miers pick, I think they are "expected" to respond favorably.

Good point. Dontchya just love the way these guys use this "Privacy" nonsense to cover just about everything the Constitution DID NOT mean?!!! How does trying to save a baby from being put to death interfere with a woman's privacy???? Perhaps she should have behaved herself in private.

I don't see how gay marriage is an issue of privacy. What is more "public" than a wedding, a family attending a school-sponsored event, company employment benefits being extended to a married spouse, and government, insurance, and pension benefits distributed to a surviving spouse?

How is it that invisible "rights" that seem to be missing from Constitution preempt the election results of a dozen states? This isn't Dred Scott. Homosexual marriage isn't destined as is race, gender, or many physical impairments. What is done in their bedroom is private. Wanting free health benefits by virtue of marriage makes it everybody's business.

I meant to add that "what is done in the privacy of the gays bedrooms" is something that the Democrats don't seem to realize that we DON'T CARE ABOUT. THEY make a huge deal out of it, but we don't. It's the parts you mentioned that make it a big deal.

I take it you are from Kentucky? I am from Northern Kentucky. Florence to be exact across from cincy ohio. When Miers name came up I got right on the phone and called Mccpnnel and the rest of them and said the payback can get really bad. There were so many wonderful proven conservatives to choose from I was livid. I have already email the white house and signed a petition for Alito. I also prayed to God to get those who are going to go against someone who is in support of your children in the womb.
