MA AG Reilly pledges to give illegals free tuition as a “civil right”
MA politics | 11/2/05 | ltn72

Massachusetts Attorney General Tom Reilly today threatened Governor Mitt Romney with “going around him” to give free in state college tuition to the children of “undocumented guest workers” (illegal aliens).

This is the latest development in an ongoing political battle between the two politicians. Reilly has been a staunch defender of spending tax payers’ money to give free educations to illegal aliens and their children as the “compassionate” (politically correct) thing to do. Romney has promised to veto any legislation from the State House that would provide illegals with free college tuition. In response, Reilly has announced that he has gathered enough Democratic legislators to override a governor’s veto. Failing that, he is reported to have told aids that he will invoke “consumer protection law” to provide free tuition to illegal aliens and their children. Reilly is a pioneer in using “consumer protection” as a way to make his own law. He invoked this reason to ban the sale of new handguns in Massachusetts when, in 1999, the Legislature failed to ban them through law.

State citizens who are having difficulty raising the money to send their own kids to college are understandably angry at Reilly. However, the Boston area Liberals who control the state vote are supporting him.

I'm inclined to guess that giving illegals free tuition is a WINNING issue in MA.

Am I right?

It's not a civil right, but it is a UN human right. So listed on Eleanor Roosevelt's UN Declaration of Human Rights.

I thought he proposed that illegal's progeny should pay the same tuition amount at State Colleges as other residents.

Do taxpaying citizens who are legal residents of Massachusetts get "free" tuition?

We've had Dims down here in NC try to sneak through "free" health care for illegal aliens, at the county level.

There are still enough people in MA that didn't get a free ride through college that will choke on the cost and the fairness of this, the Dim's pass this and a lot of people are going to be p*ssed big time.

I just read the Bill. It does not mention age or that they must have attended a MA high school. Or passed the MCAS. It's Open Borders for Illegal Aliens.

Romney played this jerkov like a fiddle. He knew Reilly would react stupidly. He knew also this was red meat for the Red State Base. Mitt Romney wins the play of the week.

Since when does an Attorney General get to make his own law?

Reilly is a freakin' buffoon, he had a big debate yesterday with the Lt. Gov. of this State, she walked all over him. There are several Dims that will not support this madness, reilly is skating on thin ice and this idiot is running for Gov, he just lost the race. The man doesn't know the difference between immigrant and ILLEGAL immigrant, he is the same buffoon that will not prosecute any ILLEGAL for any reason, keep in mind he is the chief law enforcement officer for this State, he should be thrown out on his ass, if this were a Republican he'd be out of office and jailed by now. Only in Massachusetts......

The UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, cited by Bill Clinton as the greatest document ever written by man is 100% worthless.

The declaration says that all people have the right to opinion and expression. The right to rest & leisure. As well as a standard of living. All mothers and children have a right to special care and assistance. Sounds good so far.

But then you get to Article 29 Paragraph 3. And what exactly does Article 29, paragraph 3 say?

"These rights and freedoms may in no case be exercised contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations."

So you have no freedom of speech. No right to proeprty. No freedom of expression. No standard of living. You have nothing if your exercise of said rights interferes with the goals of the United Nations.

This is a blue state run by dims, they do what they want, when they want and no one can stop them, that's why this state is the only state to lose residents and the first state to legalized gay marriage, this state is unbelievable and the AG is living proof that stupidity gets you everywhere you want to be.

When some Josef Stalin wannabe can make new law on his own without the approval of the elected legislature then I guess you could call that pioneering.

I'll support all this if it's conditioned on proving their parents were deported first.
