Get the hook! Days after the nation's attention has turned elsewhere, the Today show is still trying to haul the bedraggled carcass of "Fitzmas" across the headlines.
This morning's show opened with the on-screen headline "Libby Arraignment." In the world of judicial proceedings, arraignments are a notorious bore. Defendant arrives, enters two-word plea, leaves. Hate to tell you, Katie, but this ain't OJ. Not even Scott Peterson. If Today insists on subjecting America to extended coverage of every procedural step in the Libby case, its ratings could go the way of Aaron Brown.
Chris Matthews was then brought in to conjecture darkly about Karl Rove, and predict that, ooh!, VP Cheney might have to testify at the Libby trial.
The morning's most revealing moment came when Katie turned the discussion to yesterday's revelations of secret CIA prisons to house top Al-Qaida officials. No sooner had the words "CIA prisons" left her mouth than Chris Matthews was caught shaking his head in disapproval. The camera quickly cut away, but it was too late. MSM-types like Matthews can't bear the thought of our government taking tough measures to deal with those who would murder us.
Today Show/NewsBusters ping.
LOL. I was just watching FNF who had Charlie Rangel on lamenting that the Vice President was surrounded by "indictments all around". Last time I looked there was just one.
Looks like Cheney has Charley surrounded!
Ol' Senile Charlie wandered away from the old folks home again, eh?
Wonder if his constituency will embalm "Whoops, I Crapped My Mouth" Rangel after he passes, and continue to vote him into office...
CBS radio had the exact same lead and subtext (Cheney to testify). These are guys are all reading their lines from the same gumwrapper.
Maybe Hissy was shaking his head at the irony that the LSM is all in a tizzy about someone revealing the top secret that Valeria Plame was associated with the CIA in some capacity, but then the LSM goes and outs the CIA's secret prisons, which definitely will lead to foreign operatives discovering the location and identities of facilities and covert personnel.
Good point. Given the chance, Libby's defense counsel would absolutely rip him to shreds.
Somehow I doubt it ;-)
We can dream, can't we?
We can dream . . . or turn to Fox News ;-)
PS: at this juncture ;-)

*snicker*
What I got from the stories printed in the papers are that some want al Qaeda and other terrorists to know exactly where we are keeping their Leaders
May I ask .. who's side are these people on that they care more about the terrorists then they do for innocent civilians ??
Thanks for the links. I have to say that Anderson Cooper's smackdown of Mary Landrieu was priceless!
If I was to take a guess .. I'd start looking at Jay Rockefeller and the Dems
Especially since this story seems to have came out right after the Dems pulled their close down the senate stunt
I liked how Katie said Scooter was being indicted in connection to the leaking of Plame's identity. I thought that no crime was committed there. Wasn't he indicted for lying to Russert?
I often wonder if Li'l Katie & Matty & Chrissy know that this event murdered 3,000 Americans and took place only a few city blocks from where they make their lucrative livings... |
