I notice the French police are skilled in backing-up in the face of opposition...

Great link. As a non-French speaker, it's difficult for me to find any such videos. And what I'm really after are some live feeds, or live cams - there's got to be tons of cameras around Paris. Any ideas?

Looks like they've copied the American "emded" idea. I'm surprised that Chirac has not gone on TV to denounce it as cultural pollution.

I saw only two 'rioters' on the video. Where are the rioters? This doesn't appear to be 'rioters' in the sense I am aware of. This looks more like urban assault and tactics.

I don't have any great love of France, but all that violence and destruction is really sad to see.

The French must end this cycle of violence. While we of course condemn the actions of the Muslim youths, they are an understandable reaction to the humiliations of French oppression. France must be willing to make some hard sacrifices for peace...

For more info on the riots, there is a conservative French/English blog resporting the latest: Link. Here's their latest posting:

Rioters are now shooting at riot cops with real bullets. The French preSS is mystified by this development, real bullets having been banned by Ripoublika Franska decree many moons ago. The French preSS is also mystified that rioting exists at all, happiness and joyful brotherhood having been declared by decree (and redeclared endlessly) to be the general condition of the people. The latest theory by the French preSS on the causes of this violence has something to do with the needless provoking, insulting, and humiliating of a certain portion of the population that would otherwise have been perfectly happy and law abiding.

The French government should have let the inspectors finish their work and exaust all diplomatic options before invading the rioters homelands

I watched it. The filmmaker has some guts to enter this fray. My thought was not funny - rather, disgusting.

Good grief - where do they think they are, Toledo?

I don't see anything that a couple of well-placed 30-06 rounds can't quench.

Don't underestimate what's in the video. There's a lot of fires there, several thugs doing their thing, lots of police/fire/etc. on high activity - and that at 8 days & counting. Videographer was firmly behind the police line. Officials can't keep this up without escalation of efforts (i.e.: martial law).

We see this kind of thing for a few hours, then it burns out. This has been going on for days, soon weeks.

Laughing and munching popcorn? this isn't a movie. This is real. And, if not firmly squelched soon, may very well become our problem.
