Washington Post ^ | ABC

For the first time in his presidency, a majority of Americans question the integrity of President Bush, and growing doubts about his leadership have left him with record negative ratings on the economy, Iraq and even the war on terrorism, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

This is depressing... for those that think it doesn't matter, it will directly affect how much he can get through Congress. Look at this on the the economy. How is it that we can have 3.8% GDP, but yet these number...?

"Just 35 percent of those surveyed rated the economy as either excellent or good, with 65 percent describing it as not so good or poor. "

Polls, bleah! Too many ways to weight them so the pollsters get the answers they want, not to mention getting a representative sample of Amercans' opinions.

The old media may be sick, but it's not dead and gone. And scare-mongering, making crises out of thin air, exploiting biases and weaknesses - it's what keeps them going on. Very sad and disheartening.

It is both ironic and surprising that the one bright spot in this poll is the President's nomination of Samuel Alito, Jr. That is indeed, good news.

Personally, I'd give whoever is in charge of the Administration's message an F-. The obviously do not know how to play up the recent news on the economy. They're terrible at public relations.

If you poll a bunch of democrats, the results are not surprising. Always consider the source of the poll.

These polls mean nothing until you read the demographics. In the AP poll out this evening, they weighted the poll so that 38% of the respondents were Republican and 50% were Democrat. In the CBS poll yesterday it was even worse. You MUST realize that the only news the media can completely manipulate anymore is their own polling data. So they do. And they create "great" headlines using clearly fraudulent data. It is a lie. And it is one more reason the old media is going the way of the dinosaur.

No, I have to call it the way it is. George Bush has some obligation to be a public leader, It's not even hard for a president to get quoted. When you don't answer charges, they start to stick. And in the end it isn't George Bush who suffers, it's the country.

If Rove is responsible for this play it safe approach, that's the reason I'd switch to a more aggressive team. It's not George Bush's policies that are suffering, it is all of our policies.

I was listening to laura Ingram this morning and she had someone on from Fox who was defending Bush on the whole CIA/ Plame/ uranium thing. BUT he still said Bush was suffering because the "war in Iraq isn't going well right now." I think that's nonsense, but it's what happens when the administration doesn't promote itself strongly.

Another thread points out that ABC oversampled democrats by 12%.

Party Indetification: For the respondents asked later in the survey, the results were 38% Republican, 50% Democrat

Your numbers may be correct... but Fox News has the President at 39% the last time. You can't go around cherry picking polls. If every single poll has the President in the high 30s low 40s then you have to wonder...

This is from the WaPo & ABC, it's highly questionable if the poll was fair to begin with, and further if the results have been fairly portrayed.

I partially agree with you. The administration has been absolutely terrible getting their message out, especially with the economy.
Another problem is the media... they just jump for joy with all of the problems the administration is having now.

I didn't cherry pick. Fox News polls are not better than any or the others. Look at their demographics too. If I recall correctly, the Fox poll prior to the election predicted a Kerry win. Garbage is garbage no matter where it comes from.
