Organized gangs behind French riots?

PARIS, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy has suggested organized gangs may be behind the violence sweeping Paris suburbs.

"We were struck to see in departments -- notably Seine Saint Denis -- a large organization" behind the rioting that has swept the gritty suburbs ringing the French capital, Sarkozy told reporters Friday.

"And all of this doesn't appear to us to be completely spontaneous," he added. "We're trying to work in depth on all of these subjects."

Sarkozy's remarks echo those of other experts and law enforcement officials who believe criminal gangs and possibly Islamist movements might be fueling near nightly clashes between youths and police outside Paris in recent days.

On Thursday, police reported few violent incidents -- apart from arson attacks on 600 vehicles in the region.

But immigration expert Catherine Wihtol de Wenden downplayed chances the perpetrators of the violence -- ethnic immigrant youths, many of them of Muslim-North African origin -- were being fueled by radical Islam.

"I think most of these youths aren't practicing their religion strongly," said de Wenden, research director at the Paris-based Center of Political Studies and Research, said in an interview.

"I think there is no link between Islam and violence," she added.

Other than that, how did you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln?

Neither, I think, do most of the terrorists in the world. However, there is enough incitement to violence in their holy book to give religious cover to whatever psychopathological tendencies these creeps are prone to.

Her final statement is, of course, left-wing PC crap.

These people are following a typical Jihadist pattern of destruction. It always begins with a death...any death will do, and the method of death doesn't matter. All that matters is that the death can be used as an excuse to blame the establishment and unleash violence.

These people could care less about those two boys who died. Their deaths were simply a convienient exscuse to go nuts and vent some Islamic hatred on the world.

I don't care if a single Muslim rioter mentions the word Islam or Alla. They are acting like this because of the depraved education they have received at the hands of Islam. No law matters...no neighbor matters...nothing matters but the law of Islam, and Islam ok's any violence againt infidels and non-believers like the French.

"Thanks. I've thought from the beginning that this is more like the LA riots than anything else."

Yes, that is a good analogy. Except it is much more constrained and controlled. For example, during the day, shops are open in these areas and they are calm. It is only at night, and thus far nobody's been killed. The LA riots were much worse.

Nearly all of them have been educated in the French public schools.

There is no easy way out.

The best lever that the government has is American-style affirmative action.

If they were educated in any meaningful way, they would not behave this way.

Yes, all your posts keep pointing to this conclusion. Sorry, but if you think all these young hoodlums will suddenly jump up from the coffee house, put down the crack pipe and line up for work because of ANOTHER government welfare program, you are sadly mistaken. This isn't 1960 nor are these people in any way like blacks in America.

Yah. Wasn't the Taliban in the poppy biz?

Maybe this is why Hollywoodbrains are so much against the war- it cuts off their supplies.

"French police are very harsh."

Oh, yes, I'm sure they are. That's why they're afraid to go after the Islamic Nazis eight days into a riot.

Are you suggesting that the US has something to do with these riots?

No just islam doing what it does best and France just figuring it out.

But the riots in Seine-St. Denis do not have anything to do with this, any more than the black riots in America in the 1960s during the Cold War were a Communist plot to overthrow the United States. Different dynamics are at work.

I think you need to do a little more research on the black riots in America in the 1960s, my friend.

Creating black unrest was the top priority for the domestic Communist Party from the 1930s, starting with the exploitation of the Scottsboro boys. One of Martin Luther King's top aides was a Communist. Most black leaders at the time openly supported the war aims of the North Vietnamese.

Your use of the word "plot" is rhetoric.

There certainly were significant elements of the black community that had been influenced by Communist ideology (Malcolm X comes immediately to mind), led by pro-Communists, and of course what is rioting but the stealing and destroying of private property?

I have a solution ;). Every area that riots from this day on, will no longer receive government checks of any kind, period. This is called peer pressure. Each area will be given three employment options; Join the military, work on a public works project building tunnels through mountains or area beautification projects in your own neighborhood. Your check will be weekly and handed out after 40 hours of supervised labor. One other option is available if you do not not want to work. You may board a ship and be deported, ships leaving to different third world crapholes will be available, your choice of destination.

Oh no, the CRS are not afraid. There is no fear at work here. It is called "following orders". The police forces work for the President of the Republic. He (really his ministers) do not want to send in the police to shoot people down.
Give the order, and they will go. And more than a few of them will immensely enjoy the work too.
