A U.N. auditing board has recommended that the United States reimburse Iraq up to $208.5 million for contracting work carried out by KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton, in the last two years.
The International Advisory and Monitoring Board of the Development Fund for Iraq said in a report that the work, paid for with Iraqi oil proceeds, was either overpriced or done poorly by the Virginia-based company.
Compiled from an array of Pentagon, United States government and private auditors, the report did not specify how or what work has been done poorly.
Halliburton said its subsidiary had cooperated with the auditing process and that questions raised had to do with documentation rather than the costs incurred by the company. It pointed to findings by the Pentagon's Defense Contract Audit Agency.

And what UN army is going to force repayment????
In related news, the US told the UN to roll up their report and stick it where the sun don't shine.
This auditing board ought to audit the U.N.
Let Micheal Moore pay it back - after all he's a shareholder.
probably upset there was not enough graft for UN officials.
The corrupt and totally worthless U.N. trying to appear relevant again. Funny stuff. The sooner we run this anti-America mob out of the U.S., the better off this country will be.
How many divisions does the UN have?
Yeah, right after the UN repays the stolen oil for food funds, imprisons the UN leadership, and the US is repaid for our liberating them in the first place.
The U.N. should be relocated to Haiti or some similar location where the "Diplomats" will not be so distracted by the amenities provided at its current location!
How about the UN reimbursing Iraq, the Iraqi people, for all the fraudulent money they accepted from Saddam in the oil-for-food program?
When does the UN start repaying their outright thefts from Iraq and for their corrupt management of the "Oil For Food" program?
U.S. Audit Recommends That the U.N. Repay Millions to U.S.
Agree. It would seem that the U.N. would feel more at home in some corrupt, third world country.
The UN, the political/legal arm of every country too stupid to build their own civilized nation. F'em!
Ahhhhh.. . .speechless . . .
And don't forget the parking tickets!
True. You're right, they should have a choice. Leave the US or face the death penalty.
They should be paying us.
Typical Commie thinking. It doesn't matter whether or not the charge is true, it's the seriousness of the charge that's important. This kind of thinking comes about after years of doing recreational drugs.
Why don't we redirect funds away from the UN itself and toward Iraq?
There. Now everyone is happy.
When they pay back the Oil for Food money.
And the crimes they get away with because of their status.
For all the moonbats (not you Mor):
This my friends is the definitive proof that we didn't plan 9-11 ourselves... it would have been the UN.
That is stupid!! The hypocritical UN - with their crooked Food for Oil program, oh, dear Lord!!
Inform the DNC and Arab Defense Force -- currently known as the U.N. --- that all reimbursements will follow AFTER a full audit of the U.N. is complete and all funds illegally secured by U.N. employees and member States from the "Oil for Food" program are returned to Iraq.
Until then, they can kiss my hairy ass.
Take it out of our UN dues.
Apparently there is nothing else happening in the world for the AP to report on.
"The corrupt and totally worthless U.N. trying to appear relevant again. Funny stuff. The sooner we run this anti-America mob out of the U.S., the better off this country will be."
Double ditto. Run them out right after the UN pays back the zillions we've given them over the years. Why, oh why, do we continue to fund those jerks???
Check the report out, if it turns out to be true then have KBR make restitution as necessary.
how about Iraq pays the US back first?
I assume that a U.S. auditing board hasn't yet been formed to recommend that the U.N. p!ss up a rope and suck the other end.
Establishment of the International Advisory and Monitoring Board for Iraq News Release No:2004/124/S
"WASHINGTON, October 24, 2003 The Heads of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations and the World Bank are pleased to announce that they have approved the terms of reference of the International Advisory and Monitoring Board (IAMB). This means that the IAMB has been established.
"The purpose of the Board is to promote the objectives set forth in Security Council resolution 1483 (2003) ** of ensuring that the Development Fund for Iraq (DFI) is used in a transparent manner for the purposes set out in operative paragraph 14 of that resolution and that export sales of petroleum, petroleum products and natural gas from Iraq are made consistent with prevailing international market best practices.
"The Heads of the Arab Fund, IMF, UN and World Bank intend to make the appointments of their representatives to the Board forthwith and look forward to the Board's first meeting.

(** A.K.A. The "Oil-for-Food" program)
Who paid for these projects in the first place? I thought we were funding Iraq reconstruction. If KBR owes anyone money (and I'm skeptical of that if the U.N. says its true), then its the U.S. taxpayer.
"Where's the Mega-Chunky BARF Alert???"
Lovely! Gives a whole new meaning to, "Open wide for Chunky."
Yep, Ali, the UN would have been a better target.
Don't mind me, I'm in favor of the death penalty for jay walking and kids who paint graffiti. I also know how to solve the problem of child molestors who are released from prison: casteration.
This kind of thinking comes about after years of doing recreational drugs.
Why give them this as an excuse?
They are simply corrupt...drugs or no drugs.
"The UN should be moved to a floating barge in the Caribbean."
Better yet, that huge Iceberg that recently broke off the antarctic. Put the UN there and let it slowly drift away, never to be heard from again.
You're probably right.
U.S. reactions, such as Americans in the FR, to absurd United Nations' claims are muted. The U.N. issues its propaganda PR to influence, and to further justify, anti-American sentiments throughout the vast globbal. The U.N. keeps the fires of antiAmerican feelings burning which accounts in great part and aided by the Bolshevik factor, for the current extreme reactions/riots in South America during Bush's current visit. The United Nations tacticly employs its best defense to distract from its many abominations and failures which is to offend and accuse the U.S. At this point, both Condi Rice and John Bolton should strike back with strong rhetoric and reality checks.
Waiting for Kofi Annan to add another international law banning all images and references to Pigs and Swine to accommodate Muslim/Islamic sensitivity. A reminder: December 18th is United Nations' flag burning day. It's also "Hug your pet pig Day."
Paris would be a great location. I'm sure we can find some very inexpensive property at the moment somewhere.
