Washington, D.C.
After many, many months of being a punching bag, the punching bag is ready to fight back. Republicans believe it is long overdue.
On FOX NEWS SUNDAY this morning, Brit Hume reported that he was told at the highest levels that the White House was finally going to engage the Democrats. They will be coming out with a defense of the war in Iraq.
On this forum and around the blogosphere, Republican loyalists have been wondering why the President has allowed the Democrats to get away with calling him a liar. There is a wealth of evidence justifying the war, including 500 tons of yellowcake uranium discovered in Iraq in March of 2003 at the nuclear research center of Al-Tuwaitha. 1.8 tons was enriched. That is not Betty Crocker yellow cake. Hussein wanted a bomb. And yet, a majority of our population does not even know about that find.
The Democrats are doing exactly what they said they would do in their secret memo that was captured by a Republican staffer. They are using the war for political purposes, while they are pretending it is not for political purposes.
If the President will light a fire under his team, support for the war will increase, perhaps dramatically. The President owes it to the troops who have sacrificed and to those who are still out there risking their lives everyday. Step up, Mr. President.
Taking a cue from posts on FR?
CRY HAVOC AND LET SLIP THE HOUNDS OF TRUTH!
I will believe this when I see it.
I'm waiting.
The Dems are wartime traitors. Will the 'pubs speak this truth?
> Republican loyalists have been wondering why the

Because GW was trying to be Presidential.
The Dems, of course, are being Gutter.
If this story is true, I wonder if the last straw was
the Rule 21 stunt. If even the Dem Senators are
tossing away the last pretension of being senatorial,
it's time to hit 'em with the truth (and BJ Clinton
too, who is way far from Presidential, with his post-
term sabotage of US interests).
I will believe it when it happens.
The Secret Memo that was written by Rockefeller (D) WVA
said he does not know anything about a MEMO,
This should be thrown in his lying face, and make him apologize !!
Let's hope it has more force than Senator Frist's 'gonna get really, really mad' at the Dems did.
Who was it that said "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth gets its pants on"?
.....we'll see
Doogle
Our Repubs and President are beginning to feel...'French'. . .I really hope there is substance to this 'relvelation'.
Long overdue ... Reagan was the Great Communicator. Thus far W has either been the NonCommunicator or the Poor Enunciator. Harry Truman managed to turn things around. Does W have what it takes?
Dan Rather wrote it.
Sometimes Brit's Special Report does seem to be getting its talking points from FR, but it could just be that the people putting together Brit's program and FReepers have seen the same news and thought it newsworthy.
Hey Doug,
I'm going to see my Wacko Liberal SIL today. Could you give me a reference for the Yellowcake??? I want to rub it in her smarmy face.
Thanks in advance!

This makes my entire day.
Hopefully Republicans and the WH will remember to remind the Democrats that when Clinton signed the Iraqi Liberation Act in 1998, they sounded more hawkish than some of our Republicans sound today. And the Democrats warned about the danger that Iraq's WMD posed to the United States.
And while the WH is at it, hopefully they will remind voters that, despite the leftist lie that there was no connection between Iraq/AQ, it is Clinton's Justice Department that signed a federal indictment of bin Laden which mentioned his agreement with the country of Iraq not to attack that country in exchange for weapons development. That sounds an awful lot like a relationship to me.
Oh, and maybe someone in the administration will find it interesting to remind the voters that many 9/11 families sued Iraq in federal court for Iraq's involvement in 9/11, and the judge agreed with their findings.
Churchill I believe.
Last Tuesday, Harry Reid took to the floor of the Senate and asserted that the Bush administration had "manufactured and manipulated intelligence in order to sell the war in Iraq and attempted to destroy those who dared to challenge its actions." If that charge had any validity, it would be an indictable offense. But it is, in reality, a damnable lie and reckless slander. The president needs to defend his name and the party needs to get behind him.
But it's Bush's move to make first.
I hope this is true. I have gotten sick of the go along to get along attitude, because it has gotten us nothing. Dealing with Dems is like dealing with Muslims. They seen any sign of "dialogue" and accomodation as weakness, and it's blood in the water to them.
It's time to walk the walk.
Here is a link for the things I mentioned above:

About damn time.
I believe that was said by Winston Churchill.
Sheeesh, I know I'm going to sound like such an ignoramus, but I hadn't heard that we found ANYTHING at all! Can you give me some links about the yellowcake so I can share them??
Bush is known for letting his opponents keep on investing in a losing hand. I have been long awaiting the calling of bets and the showdown.
If there is one thing that I have learned about this White House over the past five years, it is that they are immensely patient. To them, timing is everything.
The CIA must be confronted also, they are at the bottom of all this trying to bring the President down. Hell, they couldn't get anything straight regarding the terrorists prior to 9/11, how can they get anything straight trying to get the President, answering my on question, they can't, look how many attempts they have made and he is still way out in front. They must be cleaned out and stopped.
I've been waiting for a number of years to hear Bush's explaination of why the southern border situation doesn't need to be changed for full control.
That's kinda who I thought it was.
Too bad the Administration is still fumbling through the closet trying to figure out WHICH pants to put on.
Meaningfull Border control would be welcome also. Even Brit has said that the U.S. is immune to the problems seen today in France because the looters here are "working". There's a degree of that but they are still balkanizing America communities. Waaaayyy too many are have no intention of assimilation. Their only goal is weakening American Sovereignty.
Agree, I'll be waiting for action. I've heard all the talk.
LOL, after what something like ten years, the Republicans are finally going to grow a set? Call me in act three. I'm busy.
Outside groups (Move America Forward) are also pushing. Lets hop on the bandwagon. I see the next few months will be good for Bush. The Iraqis will have a permenant Gov't. "Rovegate" will nonexistant. Alito will be confirmed. Along with this Push, and the election of a Permanent Government will shatter the Media's criticism of the War.
No! The Pubs haven't got the guts to call them socialists, let alone traitors. - tom
It is about time! We have been silent too long. It is shocking and will bend history that the President allowed himself, without responding, to be called a "LIAR" by the likes of senator kennedy, one of the great lying pigs of Washington.
The problem with the WH is chronic, compounded ignorance. They never seem to realize that they don't know that they don't know. They have to stop looking out at the world and start looking in from the outside.
Correct, wait until the Democrats are just complete obvious bumbling idiots...as is becoming increasing obvious to those outside FR...and then capitalize.
It would be welcome. I won't hold my breath.
The press and the Democrats were not rightfully invested with the trust of the people - the GOP was - and they shouldn't be calling the shots.
"... 1.8 million tons was enriched ...."
Considering that's enough uranium for about 20,000,000 atomic bombs, that's got to be a misprint. (drop the word "million")
If true, and I don't doubt that it is, then the Bush WH has been derelict in their duty to make their case ... long before now. If this is some rope-a-dope strategy on the WH they should have exploded with the knock out punch earlier in the bout. They've waited to long ...

>> When the chamber reopened about two hours later,
>> Frist named a bipartisan task force to report on
>> the intelligence committee's progress.
But he was pissed, and what the Dems got was content-free.
> It would seem that the Dems won again and forced
> the Pubbies to cave.
I'd like to think not. The Senate has historically been
very demanding that its members observe the decorum.
The rule 21 gambit was essentially a single-shot pistol,
and its unannounced use violated the decorum. There may
be consequences for the Dems, and we may not see obvious
public connections, like ...
... Frist privately encouraging the WH to squash these
roaches.
Same here... I don't believe this for one second. And we all know that the President isn't the greatest orator... so who are they going to send out in front of the cameras? Heh...
Sadly, I don't think they've found the closet yet.
What has changed?
