BRIT HUME: The White House is ready to fight back
FOX NEWS SUNDAY | 11-6-05 | dfu

Nov. 6, 2005

Washington, D.C.

After many, many months of being a punching bag, the punching bag is ready to fight back. Republicans believe it is long overdue.

On FOX NEWS SUNDAY this morning, Brit Hume reported that he was told at the highest levels that the White House was finally going to engage the Democrats. They will be coming out with a defense of the war in Iraq.

On this forum and around the blogosphere, Republican loyalists have been wondering why the President has allowed the Democrats to get away with calling him a liar. There is a wealth of evidence justifying the war, including 500 tons of yellowcake uranium discovered in Iraq in March of 2003 at the nuclear research center of Al-Tuwaitha. 1.8 tons was enriched. That is not Betty Crocker yellow cake. Hussein wanted a bomb. And yet, a majority of our population does not even know about that find.

The Democrats are doing exactly what they said they would do in their secret memo that was captured by a Republican staffer. They are using the war for political purposes, while they are pretending it is not for political purposes.

If the President will light a fire under his team, support for the war will increase, perhaps dramatically. The President owes it to the troops who have sacrificed and to those who are still out there risking their lives everyday. Step up, Mr. President.

Because GW was trying to be Presidential.

The Dems, of course, are being Gutter.

If this story is true, I wonder if the last straw was
the Rule 21 stunt. If even the Dem Senators are
tossing away the last pretension of being senatorial,
it's time to hit 'em with the truth (and BJ Clinton
too, who is way far from Presidential, with his post-
term sabotage of US interests).

Sometimes Brit's Special Report does seem to be getting its talking points from FR, but it could just be that the people putting together Brit's program and FReepers have seen the same news and thought it newsworthy.

This makes my entire day.

Hopefully Republicans and the WH will remember to remind the Democrats that when Clinton signed the Iraqi Liberation Act in 1998, they sounded more hawkish than some of our Republicans sound today. And the Democrats warned about the danger that Iraq's WMD posed to the United States.

And while the WH is at it, hopefully they will remind voters that, despite the leftist lie that there was no connection between Iraq/AQ, it is Clinton's Justice Department that signed a federal indictment of bin Laden which mentioned his agreement with the country of Iraq not to attack that country in exchange for weapons development. That sounds an awful lot like a relationship to me.

Oh, and maybe someone in the administration will find it interesting to remind the voters that many 9/11 families sued Iraq in federal court for Iraq's involvement in 9/11, and the judge agreed with their findings.

from Secret session was year in the making:(Handful of Dems in on plan that originated w/ Daschle)

When the chamber reopened about two hours later, Frist named a bipartisan task force to report on the intelligence committee's progress.

It would seem that the Dems won again and forced the Pubbies to cave.

They probably have to wait until the situation w/Rove is resolved. I'm getting tired of that whole Plame game.

Watched Wolf Blitzer and he had a legal panel and they were acting like this was "hugh and series".

I watched Fitzgerald's presser and I got the distinct impression that he was wrapping this up and was just looking at Rove.

The panel acted like Libby was going to give up Cheney, I was not aware this was even an issue.

If this is true, then it's about bloody time! I've been waiting to see the reason for bring Karen Hughe's back, hope this is it.

Last Tuesday, Harry Reid took to the floor of the Senate and asserted that the Bush administration had "manufactured and manipulated intelligence in order to sell the war in Iraq and attempted to destroy those who dared to challenge its actions." If that charge had any validity, it would be an indictable offense. But it is, in reality, a damnable lie and reckless slander. The president needs to defend his name and the party needs to get behind him.

But it's Bush's move to make first.

I hope and pray this is going to happen. The President must take a stronger stand against the Democrats, they just keep going, using up his time and as long as they are not refuted they just keep going and going. He has plenty of ammunition to blow them away. Wilson alone is a proven liar and no one has tried to put a stop on him. I watched him on CSpan the other night, he is smooth and makes it look so good, he was preaching to the chior but he still needs to be confronted about a lot of things.

The CIA must be confronted also, they are at the bottom of all this trying to bring the President down. Hell, they couldn't get anything straight regarding the terrorists prior to 9/11, how can they get anything straight trying to get the President, answering my on question, they can't, look how many attempts they have made and he is still way out in front. They must be cleaned out and stopped.

Meaningfull Border control would be welcome also. Even Brit has said that the U.S. is immune to the problems seen today in France because the looters here are "working". There's a degree of that but they are still balkanizing America communities. Waaaayyy too many are have no intention of assimilation. Their only goal is weakening American Sovereignty.

Agree, I'll be waiting for action. I've heard all the talk.

Outside groups (Move America Forward) are also pushing. Lets hop on the bandwagon. I see the next few months will be good for Bush. The Iraqis will have a permenant Gov't. "Rovegate" will nonexistant. Alito will be confirmed. Along with this Push, and the election of a Permanent Government will shatter the Media's criticism of the War.

Although it's been long overdue, it's better late than never.

On a related subject here is something I have been wondering. We constantly hear that Bush, Chaney, etc. lied to get us into the war. But what I'm not clear about is what the wacko libs believe was the real hidden motivation to start the war. In other words, the libs contend that we were taken to war on lies and manipulation. OK...why? Exactly what did Bush & Co. have to gain by risking all to promote a war that (in the libs minds) was totally unnecessary. What exactly was Bush and Co. expecting to gain by starting a war under false pretenses. It doesn't make any sense.

I'd like to think not. The Senate has historically been
very demanding that its members observe the decorum.
The rule 21 gambit was essentially a single-shot pistol,
and its unannounced use violated the decorum. There may
be consequences for the Dems, and we may not see obvious
public connections, like ...

... Frist privately encouraging the WH to squash these
roaches.
