This analysis seems incorrect. Unless those with redheaded genes actually have fewer children on average, the percentage of red-headed genes will be the same. Of course, it's possible that the gene will be diluted, but redheads will still occur. Reporters don't generally get these things correct.
Same thing here, except for the beard thing. ;^) My older brother is dark(skin and hair) like my father was. I have very dark hair and very fair skin and my younger brother has medium brown hair and fair skin.
My brother says that our dad's genes got weaker as he aged.:^D
I have to say that I have never found red-haired men very attractive. No offence intended...just personal preference.
Ah, my wife is of the fair-skinned, blue-eyed, auburn-haired Irish persuasion. Tall too. My only daughter is strawberry blonde but as she grows, her hair is getting a little darker and may ultimately become auburn. I'm Scots-Irish and blonde gray with a bit of red in the beard. The girls do have a bit of the fabled firey temper, but rarely directed at me. Thank God.
Being a redhead is natural.
I'm the only one of the four of us to have green eyes - actually green/gray.None of my nephews or nieces have green eyes, most have different shades of blue.
I was blonde until I was about 4, then my hair got darker and darker brown, then the red highlights came out when I was about 13 or so.
I haven't been my "natural" color in over 10 years. I've been bleached blonde, dirty blonde, red, and two-toned when I was between colorings which sometimes spans months.
I wonder if I let it go back to natural if I'll still have the red highlights.
I am a redhead by choice. :)
People would pay good money for her hair color in a bottle!
Good riddance. ;^)
I wonder if some men's assumptions about redheads makes them bolder at "courting" them?
Mrs. B couldn't possibly comment on that one!
Good luck to you, RepubMommy! I have three boys, and 2 out of 3 have flaming red hair. I love it. I do not have red hair, and none of my family for the past two generations had it, either. But it must be in my past somewhere! (DH has a red beard.)
One of the more interesting traits I recently learned about is that redheads need more anesthetic and pain relief (for surgeries, dental work, etc.) than non-redheads! Who would have known? No wonder it took my then-6-yr-old so long to come out of his anesthesia after an MRI.
Because from the day she was born until today, she has been complimented on her red hair. I usually have at least one redheaded baby/child with me daily for the last 8 years, and we get the compliments and genetic questions EVERYWHERE WE GO. 10x a day at least.
Boy, the picture proves that not all redheads are beautiful.
A friend had a bumpersticker on his car:
This car brakes for blonds and brunettes and backs up 20 feet for redheads.
Go to PEI if you want to see Japanese Redheads! They are all Ann of Green Gables fans and they enjoy running around in red wigs.
BS. I see more redheads now than when I was a kid.
