Observers, experts in security and police operations, wonder if the French are capable of putting down this insurrection.Only if they french kiss the miscreants to death.

Attacking firefighters and handicapped women, but for some reason, they don't deserve to be called "scum."

I would like to see those people march into a town in Alabama or Virginia and start destroying people's property. They would be happily met with 12gauge shotguns.
Why don't these French people defend themselves against these sociopaths?

Yes, isn't this the call for America. Just ask Mr. Saddam really really nicely if he'll not make WMD and bomb his neighbors (or give WMD to muslim thugs who want to bomb America) and he'll just go "OK" and all will be right with the world.
Chirac and the French are learning that there are some cases where talking sweet ain't gonna work.

France is a political member of NATO, maybe Chirac will call Brussels for help. (immeasurable sarcasm!)

The French should pull out of France.
PS. Sure its fun to make jokes of the French but I wonder how we would deal with a similar situation in America?

Question: How many Frenchmen does it take to defend Paris?
Answer: Nobody knows, since it's never been tried.

How soon before these thugs are called "patriots", "freedom fighters", and "victim of oppression"?
Time to change the name of France to "Paristan".

Special squads of police trained in special operations smashed through doors in a public housing project in the Paris suburb of Les Mureaux where they arrested youths who had tossed heavy objects, such as supermarket trolleys, on police and on a heavily traveled road.
Just damn. If the French police can't combat this.....it's over...

I have to hope that this will bring the French closer to our world objectives in the long-run. Perhaps their population will elect more right wing pols and cut immigration like the Netherlands. As tempting as it is to simply say "I told you so" to the appeasers, it is probably better to cheer on the Le Pen types in France.

"Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy, who's been the target of a great deal of criticism for calling the rioters 'scum'....." No punishment is too draconian for calling them a name and getting it absolutely right -- and then having them prove you right, into the bargain. Off with his head!
To: FerdieMurphy
Chirac is about as an effective a leader as Jimmy Carter. His dithering and attempting to pander to the rioters has made things worse. Interior Minister Sarkosy, a Chirac rival, is a hardliner and I think will quash the rioters with brute force.
The riots are Chirac's politcal end and I think Sarkosy, if he succeeds in restoring order, will eventually replace Chirac in a new government. The radical Jean Marie le Pen and his anti-immigration group will also benefit from this chaos.

Gotta love the French. They run off and leave a handicapped woman deserted on a bus. I guess I hope they put down the insurgency. Like the last two times we've had to save France, we don't have much choice but to hope they win.
