Oh, my. I figure this movie will be a box office bomb. Who's going to want to take a date to it? But I never thought about it being advertised in family theaters!

No, it is NOT a box office bomb, according to the weekend numbers on Monday's "Drudge Report." In fact, millions of Americans do very much want to see a film of this kind. It may be curiosity, or it may be a secret desire for upcoming "gay rights" that the American people may eventually embrace.

Those box office numbers come from five theaters in San Francisco and New York.

I do not think you can base the entire country on those two cities. That movie was made for those markets.

I do not think middle America is as interested as you think.

I sincerely hope that you will welcome a dissenting perspective on this. I am way more conservative than liberal, as are my parents. One of my brothers and I ranch with my father in Montana on the same ranch where he was born and raised. My brother and ranch partner is gay, and yes, he's a cowboy....he doesn't rodeo anymore, but he was pretty good in his day. He nearly died as a result of being conflicted about his sexual identity and it wasn't until this happened that our whole family had to take a long, hard look at this issue and none of us could turn our backs on him.

I'm sorry, but I just don't get where this kind of us- against-them, polorized discussion gets us....and I confess I came online to find out what people were saying about "Brokeback Mountain" so maybe I'm just a troll. But don't just about all of us know someone who is gay? Would we want them to live less fulfilling lives than the rest of us? And we never tell some of their stories, they'll be sitting at the back of the bus forever.
