I'm getting a little tired (okay, I actually got tired a long time ago) of people making such a huge deal over the US death toll reaching the 2,000 mark. All around, we're hearing, "It's not worth the cost! It's not worth the cost!"
Well, frankly, I think freedom IS worth the cost. And I think it demeans the sacrifices of our troops to suggest otherwise.
To that end, I think it would be neat to start a campaign showing some of the benefits to the war in Iraq. I'm including a "starter" image to get things rolling...

As I stated in the introduction, I'm looking for more ideas. This war is most definitely about more than just Saddam -- and it's time we stopped cowering everytime the left-wingers snipe at us. We hold the moral and intellectual high ground, and it's time we started behaving as such. (I'm speaking in terms of our collective behavior -- there are certainly examples of individuals who are already doing this.)
If you have ideas on what else would make a good advertisement, please feel free to share them here.

The 2000 dead soldiers have clearly proven that we are willing to stand and die, not only to defend ourselves, but in order to exact consequences on our enemy.
This last one is very important.
Deposing the Taliban in Afghanistan alone would not have restored the respect factor which caused the attacks of 2001. They EXPECTED us to come there, where it was their plan to defeat us as they had the Russians. On the day when our media was taunting the military about the lack of "shock and awe", shock and awe was precisely what was in the minds of those on the Arab street...at our audacity.
The good news is that despite our attempts to frame our actions as defensive and altruistic, they are seen by the warped Arab mind as punitive and retaliatory.
Saddam had been declared the winner of the Gulf War by the Arab world, simply for surviving, and proceeding to thumb his nose at the Americans. He had come to be seen as the symbol of Arab power. This is why his extraction from that spider hole was such a significant emotional event for the Middle Eastern mind, and it is the main reason America has not been struck in four years. For us to think that we have somehow eradicated their capability to strike falls well short, and fails to acknowledge the real reason....CONSEQUENCES, Saddam Hussein's summary whipping chief among them, have had an impact on their WILL.
Fear of consequences is a primary motivator to inaction, thus we have 2000 dead soldiers to thank for such a noble and worthwhile sacrifice.
don't most soldiers vote republican? would the dems quickly change tune if they realized that every soldiers' death was a vote taken from the GOP?
Actually, I think they've already realized this. That's why they make it so difficult for our troops to do their jobs.

What to do if you fall into a conversation with someone about the terrorist attacks who doesn't believe in retaliation:
1. Engage in conversation, and ask if military force is appropriate.
2. When he says "No," ask, "Why not?"
3. Wait until he says something to the effect of "Because that would just cause more innocent deaths, which would be awful and we should not cause more violence."
4. When he's in mid sentence, punch him in the face as hard as you can.
5. When he gets back up to punch you, point out that it would be a mistake and contrary to his values to strike you, because that would be awful and he should not cause more violence.
6. Wait until he agrees, and has pledged not to commit additional violence.
7. Punch him in the face again, harder this time.
8. Repeat steps 5 through 8 until he understands that sometimes it is necessary to punch back.

You said it: The cost of doing nothing is two world trade center buildings and 3000 civilians dead! Clinton did nothing, ask Louis Freeh....

The point is also, we all die. Will we die defending freedom or by allowing our enemies to kill us.You can die crossing the street. God bless our soldiers who volunteer to take the fight to them!
As a married man he did not have to enlist. He joined the 165th Infantry. In France,June 1918 he wrote a poem titled The Peacemaker.Two lines follow.
"What matters death,if Freedom be not dead?. No flags are fair,if Freedom's flag be furled".
As Sgt.Joyce Kilmer he was killed by a sniper, at the Battle of the Marne, July 1918. Kilmer felt that it was better to choose to risk death, rather than let his comrades down.

640,000+ deaths for the Union side alone, on a population base of less that 50 million. That would be like 3 million dead today.
Yeah, they think O.I.F. stands for Operation Iraqi Find-the-weapons!
I heard a statistic on flu related deaths. It's something like 15,000 a year.
God bless all of our heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice! May we all be worthy of their sacrifice!

It is worth it.
If I had my way, I'd make every liberal in the country fight and die for freedom, so that he would have done at least one honorable thing in his lifetime.
