BAGHDAD (Army News Service, Nov. 7, 2005) –Iraqi forces join coalition forces during offensive operations this past week to net dozens of terrorists and weapons cashes.
IED hotbed seized by 101st Airborne
Soldiers from 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, discovered a large weapons cache during combat operations south of Baghdad International Airport Nov. 4.
Members of D Company, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment discovered the cache around 8 p.m. The search revealed more weapons and munitions in a total of 18 different caches before concluding at 5 p.m. Nov. 5.
Three terror suspects were detained for further questioning. The weapons cache included 90 82mm mortar shells, 40 hand grenades, 22 rocket-propelled-grenade rounds, eight RPG launchers, seven rockets, four 155-millimeter artillery rounds, four 60-millimeter mortar systems, three AK-47 assault rifles, two automatic grenade launchers, two mortar sights, two sacks of mortar propellant charges, two pipe bombs, one 120-millimeter mortar round, one case of 7.62-millimeter ammunition, one improvised rocket launcher, 800 grams of TNT, 300 feet of detonation cord, bomb-making materiel, 25 ski masks, and four sets of body armor with protective plates.
An explosives ordnance disposal team later destroyed the cache through controlled detonation procedures.
Detained terrorist identifies other bomb makers
Task Force Baghdad offensive operations near Salman Pak south of Baghdad continue to pay dividends. A suspected terrorist, who was recently detained, revealed information on others who are suspected of making and planting roadside bombs.
“The suspect has been able to positively identify other terrorists he knows, and we expect dividends to continue,” said Capt. Brad Gannaway, an intelligence officer with 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry. More terrorists were detained Nov. 2 after being identified and are currently awaiting prosecution through the Iraqi judicial system.

Iraqi, U.S. forces seize weapons caches
Other operations in Iraq over the past week included:
• In Mosul, Iraqi Security Forces along with Multi-National Forces from Task Force Freedom detained 46 suspected terrorists and seized weapons caches Oct. 31-Nov. 4.
• Iraqi Police detained 11 individuals suspected of terrorist activity during operations in Tal Afar Nov. 4.
• Iraqi Army Soldiers from 2nd Brigade, 1st Division along with Multi-National Forces detained 11 individuals suspected of terrorist activity during a series of raids in Mosul Nov. 1. Iraqi Police seized a cache of 57mm rockets and 122mm artillery rounds in Qayarrah Nov. 1.
• Iraqi police detained three more individuals suspected of conducting terrorist activity in Jamessia Nov. 2.
• Iraqi Army Soldiers from 1st Brigade, 3rd Division detained one individual suspected of terrorist activity during a raid in eastern Mosul Nov. 3.
• Iraqi Police along with Soldiers from 65th Military Police detained nine individuals suspected of terrorist activity in northern Mosul Nov. 4.

Rounding up the Bomb Makers
They ought to detonate them with the terrorists attached and throw in a can of spam for good measure.
I hope the commanding officer checked with the Supreme Court and the DemocRATS in Congress to see if it was okay for us to do this.
