Iraqi's Thank America (Wow, this is moving!)
The Other Iraq ^ | 11/08/2005 | Iraqi Kurds

"THANK YOU AMERICA"
I have the very good fortune to be working for a PR company hired by the Iraqi Kurds to help promote a media campaign that begins on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 here in the United States.

Tomorrow is the launch of a TV ad campaign where the Iraqi Kurds say "Thank You" to America for liberating them from the oppressive regime of Saddam Hussein. Please watch the ads and post your thoughts.

"Thank You America" is the first of 3 ads that will run in the United States (beginning on Fox News Channel) and then thanking British and American troops in Europe and the Middle East.

So wonderful to have dialog with the M.E. We've needed this.

"I bet the libs and MSM will ignore them."

Yes, except there have been some exceptions. Like this article in Newsweek:

Newsweek Article on "The Other Iraq"

Also, we are now booking the Kurdish representative - Ms. Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, Kurdistan Regional Government Representative - for radio and TV interviews around the nation.

Me too! My favorite is obviously the "Thank You America" - but that 3rd ad about them building a future, it just strikes at the basic issues of humanity that differentiate "us" and the terrorists. Those people who reject the path of fear and terror and instead chose to build a future of hope and freedom for themselves and their children - it's what both we in the West and the Kurds in Iraq (and many others in Iraq I might add) have in common.

So far it was via a phone call. The ads were supposed to run on CNN International and CNN Headline news. When they were rejected by CNN International then Headline News used the same "rejection" as to why they could not play in the U.S.

We are still appealing and hope to change their minds.

What I think this all gets down to is CNN is probably very afraid that they would get a vociferously negative reaction from those most opposed to Operation Iraqi Freedom - especially overseas, and so they are hoping to avoid the controversy.

Don't worry - we are still beating our head agains the cement wall to prevail.

I don't know how any liberal in good conscience could look at these people and deny them their dream.

We often have so much that gets us worked up. Isn't it nice when there is something that simply brings a good feeling to the heart and soul?

PING! We discussed the Sacramento City Council's absurd conduct recently. So instead of just the frustrations in life, I decided to share with you something more uplifting. Check these out. They should make you feel pretty warm inside :)

The media won't run them- because it doesn't serve the 'get Bush' agenda.

If the exact same sequence of events had taken place with Clinton in the White House (fat chance), the MSM would be tripping over itself to highlight the good and minimize the bad news out of Iraq.

Ok, I've watched them. I really like #3.

If America/Iraq were smart they would run more of these types of ads in America and abroad. I believe there's a place in non profit ad situations where these could be done. We need to start using the MSM to our advantage. I like #3 because it speaks of hope and rebuilding. Even as an American, I think #1 is a little condescending, it was the "thank you America" one. #2 just wasn't exciting.
