If AQ wholly intends on bombing the U.S. again, via planes, then why are they ALSO trying to get in through Canada? What's the point if they don't have the bomb-making materials or ability to obtain same once they're in the U.S.
They wouldn't be coming through the northern borders, either, if there wasn't some nefarious reason for trying to come into the U.S. other than via plane.

Think about it....Do you think there where ALWAYS coming into the US via US only flights?
They weren't. It makes a certain amount of sense to try to vary the ways you get to a certain place.

It seems as though you think that their only focus is using planes as a means to either get in or bomb another plane or use it as a missile again.
I am putting aside the planes as the only method/means to achieve their goals. It's very possible they will continue to find a way to bomb our citizens, in this country, regardless of a plane.
Look abroad; they love to bomb hotels. They don't need aircraft, every time, to transport either themselves or the bomb material to achieve their goals.
Probably one of those "secret" jails is where they're being held. Hope so, anyway.

Getting into this country, obviously, would be via plane, car, boat, or foot. They don't need to fly directly to the States from the Middle East. Their flight can take them directly, of course, of to the countries north or south....which then leads to a vehicle, and probably less desirably, foot.
With open borders, as they now exist, if millions can and do come illegally through the southern border, obviously AQ can too.
Though some think they might prefer to come through the northern border, that doesn't mean it's not easier for them to come through the southern border. With their darker coloring, they could easily appear to be Hispanic and allowed through, if they have the proper forged paperwork/visa, identifying themselves as Mexican.
And if you think that's impossible that they would be mistaken as a Mexican, I personally know of dark-skinned Italians who were stopped and questioned because the Border Patrol didn't believe them at first that they were NOT Mexicans....I was with these people: my uncle and cousin.
