Got to do something to defend against the stuff we have to wade through around here lately.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Yes, after all, it was Rush who assured us in 1996 that the Democratic party was dead, assured us in 2000 that Hillary wouldn't run and that, if she did, she'd lose and has again been on the mantra that the Democratic party is dead and buried. With that track record who could disbelieve his spin today?
VA may have lost the Governorship, but we won the Lt. Govenor and Attorney General. It is a shame that the Ca initiatives did not go, but Ohio went well.
Drink the KoolAid, Luke.. come over to the Dark Side!
This election wasn't just about "candidates."
Several propositions were important. Democrats could have been handed their respective asses. In Texas and Ohio, they were, on some measures. Not so in CA.
Ohio was the big enchilada, and it's telling that the MSM won't mention it. It means that the U.S. House will stay GOP in 2006.
Any thoughts on this?
With Dubya's poor poll numbers, we should have gotten killed but we didn't.
It was a wash!
True enough, but you still need to generate some excitement or enthusiasm for the people on the ballot.
It would be dishonest to agree that we were thwacked.
I disagree. My request for support of your position tells such. You gave some details but omitted much also.
IMO a fuller picture tells a better story. I think you are missing the bigger picture and focusing on CNN headlines.
I haven't read a single newspaper, nor watched TV since the election. I've merely checked the results online.
The bottom line, is we lost virtually every important race. All ballot inititiatives ( minus Texas, which was meaningless, the libs were fools to ever think they would beat it, and Ohio, which never had a dogs chance in hell anyway), as well as the King County Executive race, after the guy blatantly fixed an election.
Face it, virtually ALL the California initiatives would have passed a year ago. And Washington has voted down gas tax increases TWICE, and has voted for no less then 8 tax reducing initiatives in the past 10 years. This time, we got nothing. The fact that they are blue states is relevant, but you can't just write them off because of that or not think about the issue.
I think you add all this to Hackett, you have yourself a situation. Time to panic? Hardly. But I think it's time for some reflection.
"Competent Conservatism" moving in to replace "Compassionate Conservatism"
Right on, brother!!
Did we quit after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
No!!!
Did Franklin Roosevelt quit on San Juan Hill?
No!!!
Did Air Supply quit when everyone concluded their music sucked?
No!!!!
Come on...let's go!
Heyyyy.....
HAHAHAHA! Best laugh of the night!!
If beating the unions and democrats are not enough incentive, then I guess the electorate doesn't give a damn.
KING County
Did you know that King County was originally named for King George of England?
Did you also know that the residents of this county later voted to change, not the name, but the person whom their county honors?
Thus King County is now named for Martin Luther King.
And you are worried because republicans lost there? Put it in perspective man.
Even in the best possible light, we won:
SD Mayors Race, NY Mayor's Race, Ballot Initiatives in Ohio and one unbeatable one in Texas.
We lost:
Everything else.
I'm sorry, I think beliving that's good news, or doesn't require honest reflection, is either hopelessly partisan, or naive.
