Greeeeeeeeaaaaaaatttt!!! This came a day after I sent a ranting email to her over her newsletter article condemming the profits of oil companies and wanting to commandeer a piece of their profits. She didn't have a problem grabbing her profits off the dot com which were used to bankroll her Senate run. But woe to anyone else who makes a big profit. It just ain't fair.
Don't get me wrong: It's always a pleasant surprise to see a GOP senator show some facsimile of actual majority control, but...
I think the execs SHOULD have been sworn in, and I think even the APPEARANCE of the GOP protecting these guys could turn into a disaster. Slapping Boxer down is great, but she should've never had the opportunity to be slapped down because the Republicans should've planned to swear those guys in from the beginning.
I absolutely GUARANTEE you that being upset over oil prices, and suspicious about the mechanics of pricing, is NOT just some Democrat concern. I'm concerned, and everyone I've heard mention the issue feels the same way. I do think these guys need investigating. I'm sick to death of the way any event can instantly trigger huge jumps in price, while it never seems to work in the other direction. Bottom line: I think they're gouging like hell and have been for far too long. Our party shouldn't be giving even the tiniest impression of protecting the oil companies. And again, this could turn into purest disaster for the party.

They did, so he didn't. Nobody would have missed the greedy, porkbarrelling old fart if he had. Another worthless Republican (which is quickly becoming a redundant expression).
The bottom line is that they can't charge you more than you're willing to pay. Which would you rather have, plenty of gas at $3.00 or no gas at $1.00? Those are the valid choices.
Yeah, we all drive to work, and that's a neccesity, but only because cheap gas let us live far from where we work. (I can show you houses that started out as company housing so workers could live within walking distance from the mill).
I work weekends, and when the gas prices were over $3.00, the roads were deserted on Saturdays and Sundays (except, of course, those of us going to work). I think this, more than anything else, is why the prices are falling as they are. WE, not the government, gave the oil companies a smack-down. That's as it should be.

Yeah, well that worthless olf fart Pub is the only thing standing between ANWR drilling or no ANWR drilling, so maybe he's not so worthless after all. He and Pete Domenici are on the reconciliation committee for the Budget bill, from which the House stripped the ANWR drilling part today, along w/the drilling offshore on U.S. east and west coasts part. Maybe the House Pubs are the ones that are worthless at the moment. Stevens and Domenici have said that the ANWR drilling must be in the budget bill or they would sit on it and there would be no reconciliation and therefore no budget bill. In other words, over their dead bodies. So, I'd rather he have his bridge to nowhere as long as he now delivers on saving ANWR drilling which is infinitely more important, wouldn't you say.
I evacuated to Tennessee for Katrina. We noticed the gas went up from in the 2.30's to well over 3.00 while in Tennessee, and that was on the low end.
Yesterday morning I was on the AAA web site, and for the heck of it I checked the area where I stayed in Tennessee to see what the lowest gas prices there were as of yesterday. $2.19.
Did you think the same thing when he offered to resign if the Bridge to Nowhere was pulled? I fear that Alaska has created it's own version of RINO. I have not yet found a moniker but SPENDO is a starting place. /this rant is not about your opinion but about the crap in congess. How do we fight it??
Actually it is 24 RINO's in the house led by charlie bass(RINO-NH).
90% of the GOP House is for drilling in ANWR.

Well, that is why they kept making the motions even after it was made clear that it was against the rules. They did so to manufacture news so the networks could just take those snippets to make Stevens look like a tyrant and wouldn't mention the fact that what Boxer and Cantwell did was improper...I didn't bother watching the networks to find out, but given past experience, I'll just bet that's what happened.
Yup. Now check the curve of the rise and fall of prices vs. the "trigger" events/conditions in both directions. Friendly FR bet of $1 says they react FAR quicker on the uptick, with the downward slope being a gentle glide path. I've noticed for years that when any oil-related event happens, the prices shoot UP instantly, then fall very slowly once the "emergency" or whatever is removed.
If they react the same in both directions, fine. But they don't. This practice warrants action IMO.

Couldn't have happenned to a nicer group of ladies, and I use that term loosely.
