If they want to protest the war, then that's fine. But a funeral is not the place to do it. I am getting ill just thinking about this.
Things are coming together nicely.
Details later in AAR. Let's just say it might be quite noisy with all those engines revving, and, the more the merrier.
PING.
Right on dude! I just wish there was a way to make them disappear from these funerals.
Here's hoping that the Indiana Freepers can organize the local Bikers, Veteran Organizations, and anyone else they can think; the entire High School Band Playing continously outside would be nice.
This needs to be taken to the police department in your area also. These nutjobs were headed towards Montana and the police were given a heads up and helped stop the protest.
These jerks make me sick. Not only are they protesting a hero's funeral but they're doing it on the day we honor our heroes. Disgusting. Wish I could be there to help.

Agreed. I just got off the phone with the Stake Presidents wife and she said he is very aware of the Anti-War demonstrators. The greely police plan to have an additional 12 officers on duty to help with the protestors.
I explained to her how Freepers have been going to the funerals on motorcycles and revving the engines so that the anti-war creeps can't be heard, and asked her if she thought the family would be OK with that.
She said that she did not think it would be respectful to the reverence of the funeral.
I was going to attend the anti-war demo before this funeral and Freep my heart out, but have decided to stay home out of respect for the family and let the Greeley police handle this one.
Anyone want to start a campaign for a new law to make it a felony to demonstrate at a funeral? Especially for our dead soldiers?

Will comply with the wishes of the family and remain home also. The Greeley police will do a good job of keeping this bunch at a distance and in line.
As for this statement: Hmm, I wonder what part the Mormon church has in all this., I don't know where Mormons come into it. He's with WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH (WBC) LOCATED IN TOPEKA, KANSAS
The Veterans/bikers' organizations have been working with law enforcement officials in planning their "sound sheltering" efforts.
Myself rather than reving my engine to shut them up maybe shoving their signs down their throats would keep them quiet. After their little run in with the locals in Laramie Wyo. I am surprised that they are coming back out West. Imagine if they start tearing up flags in Greeley they are going to get an education they will remember.

Ok gang, I'm on top of this. I called the Greeley police Dept. this morning and recieved a call back. The group has been issued a permit to protest on the street across from the church. There is nothing the police can do about it, BUT the police told me that there is no ordinance against parking on the street in front of the protestors.
A patriotic individual is going to park a large semi truck and trailer on the street directly in front of the protestors to block their view of the church. This is completely legal acording to the police. Therefore I hope the family cannot see these sick wacko's.
Unfortunately I have to be at work, but I urge all who can attend to show their support to the troops any way they can. I do know that the group Healing Fields is pulling out thier stockpile of American flags for the event and I think the wacko's will be completely overwhelmed by the patriotic response of our community.
God Bless our troops.
I didn't think they had more than a few members
They're gaining followers. Hate attracts some people. They protested a funeral in Yakima. If permits are required, you can bet they have theirs, and it will be as close to the church as possible.
I wish Phelps and his merry band of bottom feeders would protest by setting themselves on fire.
God bless you, and no they won't! It's the Phelps gang they'll find offensive! This group is so sick and twisted to do this to the families of those who have fallen. They carry signs like "Thank God for IED's". "Thank God for dead soldiers". (No, I'm not kidding) After Katrina hit, they thanked God for that too. Go to their website. It's guaranteed to turn your stomach.
Unfortunately, I doubt they'll do that. Bummer.
