It is only a political statement; even our Mayor said it will be overthrown in court. In addition the survey in todays paper 54% think its a bad idea, 36% agree with it.
SAN FRANCISCO The National Rifle Association filed suit today to overturn an ordinance San Francisco voters approved that bans handgun possession and sales of firearms in the city.
Measure H was put on Tuesday's ballot by the San Francisco County Board of Supervisors, who were frustrated by the high number of gun-related homicides in the city.
In 1982, a state appeals court nullified an almost identical gun ban here largely on grounds that the city cannot enact an ordinance that conflicts with state law.
The N-R-A filed its lawsuit today with the same court, the First District Court of Appeal, asking the judges to nullify the law that demands the surrender of handguns by April.
Well, the only poll that mattered occurred Tuesday, so a big WAY TO GO to the losers who think that it's a bad idea two days too late.

Apparently the pink pistols were against this as well (as one would expect.) however, it's hard to overcome brainwashed masses of leftists and anti-self defense propaganda.

The Pink Pistols campaigned against the measure and have put out a statement supporting the lawsuit.
Ditto. 58% of voters were allowed to decide for 100% of the population. Don't vote, don't complain.
So the term "packing a pistol" in SF can only mean one thing. Yuk!
