Just because you join the military does not mean you stand for war , It means you wish to protect your loved ones from it. You should be ashamed you have to have that explained to you.

When you join the military, there is a chance you will go to war. No one said you should love war but you shouldn't be surprised to find yourself in the middle of one either.

You should be ashamed of your ignorant answer. We have an all volunteer military. I doubt if 1% of those who serve 'love war' - but every one that serves has to be prepared to make war since that is what they signed on to do. The same for those who support the war - recognize the responsibility and the necessisty to fight for and defend what we have. Craven cowards crowd and crow from their ostensible 'moral high ground' - depending upon others to protect them from the evil that prowls all the while denigrating them and crying crocodile tears while celebrating the deaths of the brave.

You're absolutely right; we build our military might so that we don't have citizens forced into battling foreign troops in the streets of America. We have a volunteer fighting force which conservatives seek to keep strong and mighty in the hopes that no one will even attempt to challenge our dominance over our sovereign territory. This strong military force has kept this country safe from organized foreign military attacks on the homeland all but once since 1812. Our response to the attack by the Japanese has kept this homeland safe from further organized military transgressions since.
If you want peace, prepare for war.

The military's job IS war. You're the one with the weak position. A person who is against war would not join the military.
If you'll go to war under certain conditions, you're not against war.
Now go get yourself somewhat preggers....

"I'm not for war, and neither is he." Then why did he join the military?

Sarge, you smacked down that insulting, juvenile question far better than I ever could have. Thank you.

How do you expect to "protect your loved ones", sing songs around a camp fire, hold hands, what?? War will always be necessary as long as you have evil people attempting to control others. I can't believe that you, of all people, came down on a person asking a good question.

You should be ashamed you have to have that explained to you.You should be ashamed for sounding more like a cheese-eating surrender monkey than a veteran-honoring American who supports our troops. Their mission is to fight a war. It is beyond disingenuous to join the military and say you are opposed to war; it's venal and subversive.
