LITTLE ROCK--Governor Huckabee was in the national spotlight today, named by Time magazine as one of the five best governors in the country. In its issue this week, the news magazine

says Huckabee has matured since he took office in 1996 and is a consensus-building conservative, a Republican who occasionally earns praise from liberal Democrats.

Others in the magazine's Top Five list are Kenny Guinn of Nevada, Janet Napolitano of Arizona, Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas and Mark Warner of Virginia.

The magazine named Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco, Ohio Governor Bob Taft and South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford as the country's worst governors.

What would Time magazine know about who is the best governor? Shouldn't that be up to the citizens of each state? Because he is not, in my opinion, one of the "five best governors" unless you count bending over backwards to illegal immigration and spending like a liberal Democrat. And yes, he wants to run for President but he won't get my vote. I helped get him elected and wish I hadn't after the immigration debacle.

Huckabee is hated by the "conservative" purists so he must be pretty good.

My dad subscibed to tome magazine until he died in 2001. I realized that the were full of equine scat when I was in high school. Why do we care what they think?

Huckabee has matured since he took office

That statement alone makes me suspicious.

When has the AP ever claimed a Democrat has "matured" in office?

JUSTICE. Now let them name the worst MAYORS.

Our mayor is dumber than your mayor. And ours is a liar too. His wife helped get him elected and a few days before he was caught cheating on her with his new soon to be secretary from out of town that he won't fire even though he promised he would as soon as he got in office. Now, he says we'll have to fire him if we want her fired which is fine by me. Even our liberal local newspaper has said that they can't wait until he is up for reelection so they can help defeat him. And yes, he's a DEMOCRAT!

His wife is the one who has political clout, not him. He hasn't figured that out yet, obviously, because he is an idiot. And I really mean he is an IDIOT! He fired the electrical company who used to work on our stop lights and gave it to a crony. They can't even figure out which end of the traffic light is up. Nearly everyone of them is broken more than they are working since he changed companies.

That's besides the fact that he is a drunk.

Like so many in politics...he started out as a true conservative and then sold out as he attempted to expand his base...truly becoming one of those for whom I wouldn't vote because they wanted the job too much.

Since I used to be a Democrat before Bill Clinton ran for governor I guess you wouldn't be talking about me being a "purist". Just because I think he is a phony after bending over for ILLEGAL immigration to appease WalMart & Tyson you can call me anything you like. I just won't be voting for Huckabee and neither will many other Arkansans, "purist" and all.

You can have him.

MSM bias by not naming Barbour one of the best governors.

Anyone that wants to look at the Katrina situation look at the difference of Barbour vs Blanco.

Huckabee is no true conservative. He is a feel good establishment conservative. After Katrina Huckabee invited thousands of Katrina evacuees to Little Rock. It had already been reported that some of the Katrina evacuees were sex offenders. So what does PC Huckabee do? He said no background checks on any of them.

Uh-huh.

Any listing that doesn't have Jeb Bush ranked among the best is not a serious "Top Five".

Huckabee, btw, has been demonstrating an itch to run for President. His comments trend to the Liberal side quite often. While I'd like a Governor, preferably, Huckabee is not acceptable.

Mark Sanford as the third WORST Governor in the country ? Sanford should call a press conference on the front lawn of the Capitol building in Columbia, SC and have a mass-bonfire burning of TIME magazines.

Huckabee peaked in office in 1999 and it has been downhill since. The state Republicans have atrophied since, losing 50% of its US House seats and 100% of the Senate. He has not been able to expand to ANY statewide office and the legislative GOP strength has been stuck in the 20% range.

Let's take a look at these other top five "greats"...

Kenny Guinn of Nevada

I cannot point out even ONE accomplishment of this man, except that he managed to piss off the base to the point that he was the subject of a recall. There's no difference between him and his 'Rat predecessors.

Janet Napolitano of Arizona

Without question the WORST Governor of Arizona since statehood. Has politicized the state judiciary in a way unseen in decades, ruled in an autocratic fashion as to make Huey Long look like Mary Poppins. Butch has absolutely no positive accomplishments to point to, either.

Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas

The daughter of Socialist OH 'Rat Governor John Gilligan, she has scarcely failed to live up to his record of similar non-accomplishment. Also attempting to politicize the KS state judiciary with the appointment of a hack to the highest bench.

Mark Warner of Virginia.

Raised taxes, elected a 'Rat successor. 'Nuff said.

===

At least they got two of the worst Governors correctly, Blanco, whose election was tainted by a racist vote and clearly was just as incapable of dealing with the state as Ray Nagin was in N.O.

As for Bob Taft of Ohio, the worst RINO Governor in the country, I'm surprised TIME didn't score as the "Best" Governor given their benchmark.

As for Mark Sanford, his sin was presiding over an INCREASING Republican presence in the state. That is not to be tolerated by the MSM.
