I have a bad feeling about this GOP vote-force tonight. Listening to the emotional debate on the floor now...well, there was just some screaming, to give you an idea. Prediction: Dems vote no on a Republican resolution for "immediate withdrawal." Dems easily frame the whole exercise as Republicans caricaturing sensible concerns about Iraq--and more specifically a mocking of Vietnam vet Marine Jack Murtha (witness John Kerry below).

Murtha's district is very pro-war. He keeps getting re-elected due to the gerrymandered district and the power of incumbancy to hand out tons of pork to a low-income coal mining region.
The 12th district is NASCAR loving, gun loving, beer loving country with rednecks right out of a Jeff Foxworthy routine. It has a higher proportion of men and women enlisted in uniform than any other district in the state.
CBS learned about this and thought "Humm, poor people with lots of sons in uniform, let's go interview the moms and find more Cindy Sheenans." For all their interviews CBS could not find a single mom to criticize the war on camera.
Flight 93 crashed near here. The 9 miners who were trapped and given up for dead were miraculously rescued here. This is hard working mining country. Pro union but very conservative on social issues. Very religious, with a church every few miles. Mainly Baptist and Catholic with a large Mennonite/Amish minority. Very anti-abortion, very pro-gun, very anti-gay marriage.
Murtha's actions are insulting to his district and to its voters.
But they will re-elect him anyway (sigh).

The only question now is how Old Media will treat all this. I know they will downplay it but it will be fun watching try to avoid the issue.

You say, "I love my wife." (I'm a "lover"/patriot).
But in public, you denigrate her. You question her judgement and call her stupid and make fun of her intellect.
You constantly say she cheats; that her actions are unfair and underhanded. That she loves some of your children more than others, and deliberately starves some and wants them to grow up poor.
You mock her dress and the fact that she attends church.
You question her sanity, and tell everyone she's violent and oppressive, and beats neighbor's kids under her protection when she "babysits" them. She can't be trusted with children.
You say you love her . . . but you never wear your wedding ring (the flag) and you made snide remarks about your wedding vows (the Pledge of Allegiance) saying you don't need those silly symbols to prove your love.
You never, ever praise her in public. You only condemn, criticize, and attack. You want her to be completely reliant on the guy down the street for her transportation, so you refuse to get her a gas card.
Yeah, sure you're a "good husband"/patriot. Sure you are.
How can this backfire, when they are firing up the base..US in Freeper land?
So her position is to continue to allow the Democrats to spew they garbage with out having to be held accountable?
