There's old pilots and bold pilots, but no old, bold pilots. The Seante needs to be outsourced.

Murtha came to Congress on the heels of the death of its longtime GOP Congressman, John Phillips Saylor (of whom I own some of his personal political belongings), but it wasn't just any time, but as a result of Watergate (under almost any other time, that district would've sent another Republican). Murtha misrepresented himself as a "Conservative" when it turned out he was anything but. Even if we assume he ever was one, he would've long ago switched parties, but instead chose to remain right where he was, and even at that, and we give him the benefit of the doubt, then the other theory holds, that when you lay down with dogs long enough, you catch fleas. A real patriot would've known to "cut and run" from the party that, at its core, hates America and everything it stands for. He chose not to, so why now should we be so surprised when he embraced America's enemies? He has stood amongst them now for 32 years.

"When I was a much younger man, I had nerves of steel."

I think that Murtha should be a lot more concerned about his integrity rather than his nerve.

I do appreciate Murtha's service to his country, but that gives no one the right to speak against our Commander and Chief.

Murtha allowed himself to be used as a political pawn in the Democrat's anti-Bush agenda. And he is paying the price.

Altzheimers or dementia can set it at any age and, unfortunately, Democrat Murtha displays all the symptoms.

Yesterday as I was driving home in the pouring rain at 100mph in my 66 Ford Mustang pickup truck, I pondered why Martha lost his nerve.

Then I remember he was a democrat, They only have enough balls to stand up and do what is wrong for the country, and not enough to do what is right.

There is a difference.

You nailed it.

In the meantime- besides losing his nerve- he seems to have lost some of his ability to think rationally. It must have been an odd and circuitous route he took to reach his present stand.

I actually don't think he lost his nerve. It took a lot of nerve to do what he did. He traded in years of hard earned credibility to try to score political points for his party. The Democrats made a political calculation that Murtha was the perfect spokes person for their planned assault on the President. So he agreed to go along.

They just didn't plan on what the Republicans did in response. And it came back and blew up in the Dem's faces... And with it, went Murtha's integrity...

There comes a time when an old man needs to just shut the hell up... before he makes a fool of himself. I pray I'll be able to recognize it... if not that's what family is for.

The entire Murtha gambit hinged on his record of military service to give him "moral authority." But the fact is that there were several MC's with far more impressive military records than Murtha's who got up and discredited his view. They of course are never mentioned in the news reports.

The tip-off on Murtha was the disgusting display of blubbering and whining and fearful rage in his voice as he cashed in his self-respect on the House floor. He has indeed lost whatever nerve he may once have had, and is not worth further comment.

Divide and conquer , The only weapon the commies have found that works for them . The radical left and the aclu are driving the wedge , Murtha is just another one of the pawns , it has nothing to do with losing his nerve . His children and grandchildren would look good in berkas , just ask him .

To: Gargantua; All

Take OUR debate terms to the Demorats:

We know that the Democrats want an "exit strategy", they must be asked:

Why they are opposed to Democracy in Iraq.

Why they are opposed to protecting an infant Democracy in Iraq.

Why they are so desperate to give the insurgents and the terrorists a timetable, when they know ANY timetable will only be used to the terrorists advantage.

Why, at every juncture when Democracy improves in Iraq and when the success of the terrorists seems more desperate, do the Demorats more desperately seek an "exit strategy".

Why, when the vast majority of the Iraq people oppose the insurgents, when the insurgents and the terrorists are at war against the majority of the people of Iraq, do the Demorats wrongly, knowingly in error refer to Iraq as a quagmire, when it is only a quagmire for the insurgents.

Why, do the Demorats have but one policy objective in Iraq, our exit, when the only possible means of ultimate victory for the insurgents and the terrorists is our exit, and the Demorats know it.

Why do the Demorats want an unstable Iraq.

Why do the Demorats want chaos in Iraq.

We are on the offensive here now, because the Demorats can only betray their Kerry-like appeasement and cowardice in the answers to these questions.

It is common knowledge that Jack Murtha decades ago served multiple tours of duty in ‘Nam.

Murtha's biography claims he was in Vietnam in '66-'67. Marines had 13 month tours of duty in Vietnam. I can find no reference to Murtha serving multiple tours. Where did this common knowledge come from?

Gargantua:
My friend I am older than that POS and I do not run down our troups. I fought in WWII, and I will tell you that someone that says and does the things that Jack M. is doing is wrong. I am 81 years old and I do not sit around and think of things that I can do or say that harms our wonderful troups. I support our President, troups and yes even some in Congress. (I do select which ones though.)I have said many times on different threads that I think the young people fighting today are as good and as proud as those of us that fought in WWII. I support them with all of my being.

Good evening and the very best to you and yours.

We used to call it “pitting” a car. No helmets, no airbags, not even a seat belt. Often we would get up on two wheels, or even roll completely over, and it was all just that much more fun.

So "Gargantua" casts his vote to continue fighting in Iraq with "no helmets, no airbags, not even a seat belt."

Whoa! You sure are full of gung-ho "bravado", dude.

But I'm pretty certain that Jack Murtha would call you "stupid".

IMHO, you should be nominated for a Darwin Award!

The *real* reason for Murtha's change in position is a lot sadder. He was redistricted into a more Democratic district -- one with a lot more "traditional" Democrats. You know, the leftist moonbats. So he has been running left to avoid a primary fight that he just might lose to a true-believer moonbat. Country might suffer, but what is more important? The country or John Murtha's career.

Bet on his career every time.
