At least one Arab television media outlet reported that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the head of the al-Qaida in Iraq, was killed in Iraq on Sunday afternoon when eight terrorists blew themselves up in the in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

The unconfirmed report claimed that the explosions occurred after coalition forces surrounded the house in which al-Zarqawi was hiding.

WASHINGTON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - U.S. authorities are looking into whether al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a gunfight in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, a U.S. official said on Sunday, but a White House spokesman said that was "highly unlikely."

Yeah, well he'd be a lot more effective, to say nothing of safer, if everyone thought he was dead, wouldn't he?

I'd want some DNA first.

Those terrorist training sessions can get ugly.

Maybe the Jordanians got the female bomber to give up enough information to figure out approximately which direction Zarqawi tended to move.

I am not holding my breath. We'll see.

I'll believe it when it makes the NYT headline

Even if true it will never make the banner of the NYT.

Would be nice to see the President come on national TV Thursday to announce the Z-Mans death. Talk about having a Happy Thanksgiving!

If ever there were a candidate to be marched in the streets of Baghdad through a gauntlet of Iraqi citizens it would be this Jackal. But, I'll settle for some singed nose hairs that verify he was in this house.

I'll believe it when they have the body/remains positively identified. Same with Sadams buddy who was supposed to have died last week. Not that the Musklims would start false rumors or anything.....

I'm really skeptical, but who knows

That is my take. I would love for it to be true but with their media...hell with OUR media who knows.

The only hope is that Jordanian intelligence knew where he was and turned on him because of the wedding bombings.

Would Zarcowie be willing to give up a finger or two, and maybe a pint of blood, in order to have his DNA found at the bomb site?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm?
