WASHINGTON, Nov. 21 /U.S. Newswire/ -- LGBT elected and appointed leaders from across the United States and around the world passed an historic resolution in Seattle this weekend at the Gay & Lesbian Leadership Conference calling upon "all nations and governments to adopt a vocal, clear and consistent policy on international human rights abuses against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people that includes a call on other countries to abolish sodomy laws."
Attendees, some who traveled from as far away as Sri Lanka and Poland, vowed to continue to bring attention to the horrific record of some countries on this issue. For instance:
-- There are reports that in Iran more than 4,000 citizens have been executed since 1979 because they are gay or lesbian;
-- In Malaysia, "carnal intercourse against the order of nature" is punishable by up to 20 years' imprisonment and whipping; and
-- Being gay in Saudi Arabia can lead to jail terms or even beheadings.
The conference is a program of the Gay & Lesbian Leadership Institute, the non-profit sister organization of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund. The leaders also approved a resolution to "encourage all LGBT legislators and all other LGBT public officials to be open and honest about their sexual orientation or gender identity or expression so that their input on future legislation and proposals will be enhanced by a freedom to share both unique and common professional and personal life experiences with their colleagues and the constituents they represent."
"These resolutions reflect the quality of the discussions that occurred and the seriousness of the issues discussed. As the LGBT community continues to gain voices at all levels of policy- making and implementation, it's incumbent that we continue to speak up for those whose voices are silenced in countries that deny them rights simply because they are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender," says Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Leadership Institute President and CEO Chuck Wolfe.
The Gay & Lesbian Leadership Conference was presented by the Gay & Lesbian Leadership Institute in collaboration with the International Network of Lesbian and Gay Officials.
The host committee co-chairs were State Rep. Ed Murray (Washington) and City Council Member Dan Baker (Long Beach, California). Attendees also heard from Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire and U.S. Reps. Barney Frank and Tammy Baldwin.

I THINK you are going for -- and going, and going for -- your need to declare over and over again that heterosexuals are infected with the virus that causes AIDS. And that those who have infected them, the heterosexuals, were in turn infected with the virus by other male who in turn were, etc. That -- as you seem to need to suggest here, and repeatedly -- that there are some heterosexuals who are infected with the virus that causes AIDS because those who have infected them via heterosexual contact have been involved in homosexual sexual contact (and thereby contracted the virus from another or other homosexuals).
Yes, most of us adults know that, as do some teenagers also realize. And that is that some people have sexual contact with both males and females.
Some heterosexual) men also have sexual contact with prostitutes of both genders. Some heterosexual men also have sexual contact with female heterosexuals who have the virus, who caught it from (whomever).
We KNOW that the virus long ago crossed into the blood supply and many heterosexuals who don't even HAVE sexual contact with ANYone also were infected with the virus.
However, MOST HOMOSEXUAL MALES are known to engage in multiple partner sexual contact, some even all together. Many homosexuals engage in indiscriminate, impersonal sexual contact with anyone they can and without precautions...whatever. It's the lifestyle and sexual behavior that homosexuals engage in that is far "riskier" and of higher profile than other humans that's the issue because THE RATE OF TRANSMISSION among MALE HOMOSEXUALS is higher, far higher, than others.
And that, too, has long since been established. If you need to see it written here that there are some people who claim to be heterosexuals, who are engaging in sexual contact with females, but which males are secreting homosexual contact with other males, yes, we KNOW that. Most people recognize that there are some human beings who are not reliable on an intimate level. Most of us KNOW that as part of maturation.
Which is another reason why marriage between a man and a woman in and with conscience and morality and fidelity to the relationship is so important. And most people know that already, too.
The Pie Chart business...what informaton can YOU provide out of that wedge of homosexual males who are infected with the virus that indicates they are infecting, also, females? Is that what you need to establish? If so, then go establish it.
Transmission of the virus that causes AIDS and any other blood born/boidly fluid born virus, via the intestines, via all mucous membranes, is far easier than via the female vagina.
The act of sodomy, also, deteriorates the immune system, even when the virus that causes AIDS is not involved. There is an entire series of events that occurs over time by repeated acts of sodomy and it accomplishes the deterioration of the immune system. Ask your doctor for the details.
What with the general approval (by libs) of the Brokeback Mountain film and the continuing attempts to legitimize the illegitimate, now's a good time to intensify our responses to the homo-lesbian-weirdos of the world and defeat any legislature that attempts to make them acceptable and legal.
You have posted a lot of broad words like 'conscience' and 'morality' in your post, yet you give no examples of what you mean by 'conscience' and 'morality'. Would you please be more detailed and add some substance to your previous comments.
The problem actually deals more with people having multiple sexual partners over the course of a few years, than 'homosexuality' in the concept of sexual attraction to someone of the same gender.
In other words, the problem is that people are not careful about who they have sex with.
