Meadowlands sets aside prayer spaces at stadium for Muslims By WAYNE PARRY Associated Press Writer

November 22, 2005, 4:49 PM EST

NEWARK, N.J. -- The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority says it will provide a special area for anyone who wants a place to pray while at Giants Stadium or the Continental Airlines Arena _ a reaction to Muslim groups' outcries after several fans who prayed at a New York Giants game were detained and questioned by the FBI in September.

Sohail Mohammed, the lawyer for the Totowa-based American Muslim Union, met Sunday with officials from the sports authority, the FBI and private companies that work at the Meadowlands to educate them about Islam and the cultural and religious practices of Muslims.

Five Muslim men attending the Sept. 19 Giants game against the New Orleans Saints were detained and questioned for about a half hour by the FBI after they were observed praying at the stadium. The men claimed they were singled out because of their faith, but the FBI said the men were flagged by stadium security because they were in a sensitive area near the stadium's main air intake duct.

I guess they'll put it in the "Jimmy Hoffa" section.

Splendid! Now they will have a quiet, secluded place to prepare their explosives.

If the stadium had granted this to Christians or Jews, the ACLU would be all over it like sharks on a bleeding whale.

Why, why, why do we keep giving in to this crap? We've learned ENOUGH about Islam courtesy 9/11, thank you very much.

...prayers at the Meadowlands ain't nothing new. They obviously missed me during the 8th race of a bad night while laying down the last $10 on a 12/1 shot...

Maybe some good will come out of this after all. It is kind of cool to see the secular world being more open to public prayer. It might be easier to go to this section to pray without the profanity laced drunken trash talk of they guy behind you... (o:

What's next? Holding up the game so the Muslims can pray undisturbed?

And if they create a similar area for Muslim prayer in San Francisco's stadium, they'd better be careful kneeling down and bending forward.

Let the market decide.
If a place that does business wants to cater to Muslims, let them; I believe Meadowlands is privately owned.

The market will decide what is PC silliness and what is catering to customers who can and will lay out serious dosh.

People thought Feng Shui at casinos was stupid, a few billion ago, (if i recall right)

I'm in complete support of any voluntary, honest, and peaceful contract between two private parties. However, if the Meadowlands owners are being bullied with threats of discrimination lawsuits, which is a tactic the Islamofascists have learned from the ACLU, or threatened in any other way, then it's not a market issue.

I believe Meadowlands is privately owned.

It was built and is still operated by the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority. I'm sure there are a lot more Jews at Giant games, but none expect them to provide a Mincha area.

The only reason for provide a prayer area for Muslims is to be able to easily identify them and keep them under surveillance.

That's the part I find interesting. Take this scenario, you're middle-eastern. You take a PRAYER RUG to a football game. You decide, hey, it's only 2 minutes left in the game, I have to go pray. Where can I pray? Hmm.. this large grate in the wall looks good. Would you HONESTLY pick the air INTAKE to pray next to? I mean seriously? Shouldn't you have a freakin' clue? Air intake means air conditioning, which means if you released some noxious gas, or poison, or anything like that, and POOF! it goes through-out the whole stadium! I'm GLAD that stadium security was looking at people who parked out in front of the air conditioning intakes!

Make the muzzie prayer room in the stadium jail.

Christians don't need a special prayer space... I'd be embarrassed to ask for one.

No games during Ramadan, whatever that is.

Yes, you are correct.

Christians have faith, not rituals.

I was, of course, only highlighting the absurdity of granting "special interest minorities" unique privileges.
