always like to ask this question about Disney.

Why was he not given he proper credit for his OSWALD THE RABBIT creation?

Walt made those cartoons under contract to a film distributor in NY(a rather unscrupulous distributor) Walt didn't adequately protect his intellectual property,and when the contract ended, so did his rights to the character.

Walt never made that mistake again. Every character , song invention, etc. that came out of Disney from then on was meticulously documented and researched.

Walt was a ambulance driver at the tail end of WW 1 He was a unabashed patriot and American, and was awarded the presidential medal of freedom in 1964 for , among other things making WW 2 training films for the military at or below his own cost. Communist? Not a chance.

In california, we have some 6 lane parking lots that stretch as far as the eye can see! It seems like CALTRANS cannot build the Interstate Highways you so fondly remember being discussed back in 1954. :>)

Your son was lucky compared to the girl I saw.

She ran up to her friend as if to give her a flying hug, but the other girl ducked, resulting in they flying girl cartwheeling over the other girls back. Her head hit the pavement first with the most sickening thud I've ever heard. She was out, eyes open and motionless.

I still wonder what happened to her.

In downtown Disneyland there is a violinist who plays quite well. But, it's the same performance every night. One night I was getting a hogs and dogs ice cream right next to his performance area and I asked a clerk if that violinist was there every weekend.
"no," the clerk replied, "He's here every damned night, every damned night."

That's why they're called cast members.

I got SUCH a laugh out of the Shrek movie's takeoff on 'It's a Small World'. The puppets singing that song still just send me rolling.........LOL..........

One of the horses on King Arthur's Carrousel has a gold tooth. I saw it again last month. The debate is why. I saw a TV show which presented "it was Mrs. Disney's favorite" as fact. Other sources claim it signifies other things.

I remember when I was in high school and visited Disneyworld... space goofy kept following me around the park. Creep. I thought it was cute until one of my friends said, 'that could be a girl, ya know!' Oh, and one of the cowboys (the bad one of course) in the Wild West show offered to buy me a drink after the show. And, the dolphins in the Living Seas were a bit too amorous for spectators. My friend's mother yelled out, 'OMG! Look at THAT! I didn't know they HAD one of those!' LOL! Never forgot that trip.

I had two visits to the park in the late 70's. Also visited Disneyworld, which I preferred because of the many things to do in Orlando.

You know, Small World takes a lot of hits, but I rode it for the first time a month ago. (Every other time I'd ever been to Dizzyland, it had been closed!) It got annoying (duh) but I couldn't help but think of the engineering that must have gone into it fifty years ago, to get the song playing end-to-end without the beat getting totally screwed up.

You know, Small World takes a lot of hits, but I rode it for the first time a month ago. (Every other time I'd ever been to Dizzyland, it had been closed!) I was there with my family last weekend. It was playing Christmas carols, and it was actually pretty enjoyable for the first time in 25 years or so (I figure I stopped enjoying around 9 years old). They had the whole ride done up with Christmas decor, too.

Walt Disney was one of the great americans. He was a Mason, and true believer in American values. He was a bit eccentric however.

Thanks for the posting. I have visited this over 65 times, dating my visits from the year it opened. I attended the first Grad Night in 1962! I still love the place.
