I can't conceal a 1911 in .45, because of my size. But I do love the 1911 style .380 that I generally carry. Thousands of rounds through it, and the only time I had a misfire was some messed up reloads from a buddy.

Try the Springfield Ultra 1911. It will make you happy, but bring money.

Hard primers, weak firing pin springs. Also the trigger bar being out of spec. due to a manufacturing or metallurgical defect. I'm a certified armorer on the glock 22 and I cannot recall in 5 years any problem remotely like this. I'd look into the ammo a little closer before I blame the gun. If the ordnance guys went cheap on the training ammo that could easily explain it.

Clearly the real problem is, they are not holding the gun upside down or sideways when firing.

including other Glock models — after they became aware of problems with "light strikes," which occur when a loaded cartridge is hit by the firing pin but is not hit hard enough to discharge a bullet.

When I changed the trigger pull from 5.5 lbs to 3 lbs on my Glock 30(.45ACP)
I started to have light strikes on all reloads and some factory ammo,
but a visit to a Glockmeister, who increased the hammer spring solved the problem.

Only took 13 posts for a HK user to sound off! I know their expensive but you'd think that safety and reliability would be of most concern.

Sweet sidearm. Little heavy on the recoil, for a light-weight, like me, but sweet. Been there, done that.

I have problems concealing a Bersa .380 on my frame during winter.

Summer is worse. Concealed means concealed. If I weighed 240, I'd carry a Ma Duece under my arm.

I don't, and won't. I focus on frangible ammo (where f=mv2 is allowed to work), and small profile.

However, the Colt M1911A1 pistol--excellent as it was--weighs a lot by modern pistol standards and requires quite a bit of practice for decently accurate shooting.

Any weapon requires practice for decently accurate shooting.

My favorite pistol is my Colt 1911A1.

If you need a double-action first shot, I like the HK USP .45

I've had my 21 for about nine years. Haven't had a malfunction yet.

I had a couple of Bersa's way back in the 80's. The first one had that weird take down latch in front of the dust cover.

They both were technically fine guns. Totally reliable and one was fantastically accurate.

Thanks for a generous excerpt!

I wonder who the misfires were occuring to? I know my teenegers have more misfires with the Glock because they don't hold it firmly enough. I can only hope that police officers wouldn't have this problem.....

Bought my son a Glock 21 and a H&K Mark 23 SOCOM. The Glock is good and he's never had a problem with it, but the H&K is the Rolls Royce.

I will pass this along though so he can have it checked out.

Crap, I just bought a G36, Glock's smallest 45. Glock should have replaced all of the LAPD guns outright instead of messing around with part replacements. I read a bunch on the LAPD SWAT team going with a customized Kimber II 1911 in 45. I betcha Kimber gets a bunch of business out of this.

The Glock manual seems to have been written by a tech writer with a bit of 'tude, IMO.

I too were wondering about gay cops at LAPD
