What's simple is true. Abstaining works every time it is used.I am sure it does. That isn't the point.

Maybe it's time for someone to start marketing chastity belts. Young women like Alycia Brown might complain, but at least they'd be alive. . . .yes, but then her parents, might not be. . .
Actually, was thinking along the same lines. . .until I thought of other 'possible consequences'. . .
That said. . .'sad' ; all the way around here.

It's right to blame drug company and the FDA for their irresponsibility, Soooo, how much should Mommy and Daddy get from the drug company?

There is absolutely ZERO excuse for a parent who allows their 14-year-old to be have sex.I agree but it isn't always something "we" allow. It happens and usually without parents ever knowing.
To: Coleus
Alycia died suddenly of blood clots in her lower pelvis
How can blood clots in her lower pelvis 'suddenly' kill her... A blood clot induced heart attack or stroke could suddenly kill you, but there are no immidiately vital organs in the lower pelvis that you will suddenly die without.

They are scary ads, and I don't know why someone would risk that.So do the ads for every other medication that is advertised.
I'd sooner have the problem than the cure.

It's right to blame drug company and the FDA for their irresponsibility, but this child was really put to death by her own parents, IMO. Maybe the child was nearly fifteen; for Liberals; that is an 'adult'. . .
The sad reality here, IMHO. . .is the parents are victims in a way as well. . .they are from Wisconsin. . .
They don't post signs there. . .that Liberalism is hazardous to ones health.

I agree with your post.
But I don't understand why the pharm company has this patch so widely available with these adverse affects.
When I worked in Drug Regulatory Affairs, drugs with a package insert such as this product was not made this available.

Maybe it's time for someone to start marketing chastity belts. Or include Duracells... nevermind.

Does the drug company actually market the patch for use by 14-year-olds? Or did the physician prescribe an adult drug for a child?

Simply sending them to an abstinance-only sex ed and then blithely assuming that they're not going to have sex is naive at best. I think it's naive that you think that's all we do.
I don't have any magic bullets that will keep a kid a virgin until his or her wedding night. Keeping a kid a virgin until she or he turns 16 is not really that difficult. Education, supervision, rules, expectations (high ones), and hands-on parenting is what it takes. Prayer is useful as well.

Which is cool, I have no problem with that. I am just trying to say that it isn't the norm. Whether for good or bad, it just doesn't normally happen.

How can blood clots in her lower pelvis 'suddenly' kill her... A blood clot induced heart attack or stroke could suddenly kill you, but there are no immidiately vital organs in the lower pelvis that you will suddenly die without. They (and there must have been more than a few) broke off and flooded into her lungs. She drowned in her own blood, probably while she was asleep.

I agree but it isn't always something "we" allow. It happens and usually without parents ever knowing. It happens because the kids are given the opportunity and space for it to happen by a lack of parental involvement in their lives and a lack of supervision. And often the kids are lonely and neglected and looking for something to fill a void.
It doesn't "just happen".

"Maybe I'll be able to save a life, if people know what happened to her." - Her motherThis mother isn't fit to raise a child, much less rationalize on and on about "saving a life".
She should have thought of her own daughter's life which obviously she didn't. There surely is negligence involved, and most of it is on her part!
