[Would the selective reporting of credentials for "experts" qualify as a separate technique?]

Well the technique ,#7. Unproven "Facts", was meant as a catch-all for anything using facts, experts, or "authoritative sources" of any kind.

I've been amazed and delighted at all the other lists of techniques that people have shared here. It's good to know that if any of us gets hit by a bus, the others will work things out one way or another.

With all these minds focusing on this problem I think the exciting solution to it all will the be the dialog about it, rather than any single "complete" list.

[Yeah well, that's the way things seem to work around here,]...
[ In case you haven't noticed, I've really become enamored with the term goebbelist/goebbelism as it relates to our domestic media seditionists. Maybe you could work it into a theme of some kind...]

I will definitely think about how to do that. And thanks for all your advice, and thanks for putting the cross link between my original posting and this thread. You've been very facilitating and I appreciate it.

I'll follow up on all these things.

[This article tracks rather closely with the Logical Fallacies ]

This article tracks rather closely (eerily, in fact) with the Communist Parties actual instructions for its media people of the late 1930's on how to report Soviet 'news'.

That is freaky. Given the fact that I merely reverse-engineered published stories I saw posted on the Internet, it can be said that my humble list is an exact negative of what the media is doing.

That's how I came up with my list, by the way. At first I thought I'd look for WWII books about propaganda, as those would probably be the most intense. But that was an awkward effort, so instead I just started picking out patterns and assigning them names (my background is in systems design, so recurring patterns come naturally to me). The result was this list.

Thanks for posting this. The real story on the lying news papers is the fall of their stock in the last year. When they lie, spin, deceive and try to coup our president, they lose more subscribers and advertisers. The biggest lies they spin are the numbers of paid subscribers they claim to have.

NYT = NY Slimes, WPO = Washington Post, TRB = Chicago Tribune and LA Slimes

Looking at those graphs gives me the warm and fuzzies. Just like chicken soup; maybe better ;^)

BTW, I should have noted starbase posted the original work HERE. Nicely formatted too.

I send those graphs to West Coast print maggots when they spin and lie and try to deceive us.

The message is simple, "Keep up the lying, spinning and propaganda against our President. You are turning off at least 50% of your potential customer base. Does your board/owners know what you are doing?

This is a great list. Perhaps it could become a standard here on FR and used be all to label each and every instance of propaganda in the articles posted.

ping these NYT/WaPo/LAT-ChiTrib "paid-subscribers" graphs to those libs who insist the Kerry-Ortega-Harkin 1985 photos are "Photoshopped" fakes

Quote of the day from John Kohn:

*"Nobody - nobody has said we should cut & run in Iraq!"

*(my paraphrasing from memory - El Rushbo said BS!)

This is pure gold gang!

Make a list - check it twice......

Soon to be a banner appearing in front of you on a FR thread.....

I just wish that John Kohn would make nice short bite-sized statements like Slick Willie, Hillary, Murtha do! They fit on banners & graphics so much better....

I hope some FReeper has Kohn's quote on a nice short .wav or .mp3 audio file

"When former Attorney General Ramsey Clark isn’t defending Saddam Hussein, or giving speeches for the crypto-Stalinist International ANSWER, he’s acting as counsel for the Palestine Liberation Organization, trying to prevent families of murdered Jews from collecting on judgments against the PLO."
Little Green Footballs ^ | November 28, 2005 | Charles Johnson

From Kerry's "The New Soldier":

Al Hubbard Sgt., 22 Troop Carrier Squadron Aug. ’65-June ’66
Emotions: Walking down the flight line at Saigon past stacks of aluminum cases containing American bodies and past stacks of aluminum luggage containing American currency. Seeing the tight, sad face of an Airman loading the bodies aboard a dirty Air Force Transport and the wide smiling face of a stewardess greeting the passengers aboard a clean Pan American Clipper Jet. Hearing a Vietnamese beg you to leave his country and an American colonel tells you to bomb his country. Hearing a Vietnamese invite you to live in his home, after the war and an American explain why you can’t live in his block, after the war. Flying over barren, brown, safe American held terrain and over lush, green unsafe enemy terrain. Feeling happy to be leaving a country in which you do not belong and sad to be returning to a country in which you are not allowed to belong. Sacrificing a portion of your consciousness so you won’t have to deal with being there and building mental blocks so you won’t have to deal with having been there.

- Al Hubbard, proven fraud who never set foot in Viet Nam. The only Vietnamese he ever met was when he was collaborating with the North Vietnamese in Paris on the American Communist Party's nickel.

John Kerry's explanation: "He (Hubbard) simply exaggarated his particular position. But nobody knew it at the time. And those things happen."
