Rep. John P. Murtha is continuing his assault on the Bush administration's Iraq war policy, asserting this week that the U.S. Army is "broken, worn out" and "living hand to mouth."

The Pentagon and a senior Republican senator sharply disagreed with his assessment.

This makes me not like Pencilvania. I never had much use for that state. Everybody I met from there always wanted to fistfight. They need to clean up their mess.

I think he said it because the PA National Guard wants to come home.

What Ollie said on The Tony Snow Show is exactly correct, in fact we discussed that on the night of the vote in the House that came out 403-3....

WE knew back then...that this was Pelosi and Murtha's way of "inoculating" Murtha from critisim and investigations into the same thing that took down Duke Cunningham,

Who I believe is an equally courageous war hero..but, it didn't keep HIM from being critisized by the right...or, keep him from prosecution...

Murtha BETTER see what happened to Cunningham...NOT depend on Pelosi to keep his fat out of the fire.

The other side of that being that the rest of us shouldn't get to have an opinion. Well, I have an opinion. My opinion is that overwhelming force early saves lives. That's my opinion. Trickle, trickle, trickle, drip, drip, drip, doesn't do anybody any good.

wait a minute, its broken? EXCELLENT! FIX IT, modernize it, give it the resources it needs. Increase the budget allocations so it can be effective. Make it stronger. Give it better intel.

I'm with him!

I understand that there are ethics complaints outstanding against Mr. Murtha. Seems some DOD contract boodle was directed to Murtha's brother. Somehow I doubt that he'll go quietly like Duke Cunningham. If he plays ball here the Dems will back him in ethics fight.

My fellow Marines know who Bobby Garwood is. As a Marine I think this coward congressman surrender is worse than Garwood. Hey, he changed sides. Garwood never made believe he was with us after he had his change of heart.
This bum never learned to surrender from Marine Corps instructors.

I admire the service of Randy "Duke" Cunningham, who unlike John Murtha is a true war hero, not a phoney baloney wannabe. However, Cunningham has proven to be a low-life money grubbing political SOB who richly deserves the prison sentence he will get.

Murtha and Cunningham run with the same political pack - corrupt, egotisical, and arrogant. A pox on both of them.

Murtha also has raised some watchdogs’ concerns because his brother Robert “Kit” Murtha runs KSA Consulting, a lobbying group that represents some 10 smaller defense companies.

In 2004, Murtha’s brother was able to secure $20 million in the defense-spending bill for his clients.

Kit Murtha repeatedly has denied working directly with his brother’s office.

I wonder how many veterans and service members are in his district. Maybe he should be losing all those votes.

"He said the reason Murtha is saying all this is because Murtha may be coming under Congressional investigation on some other issue(s)."

He got himself a Duke Cunningham problem?

"Murtha is wanting to make it appear that that investigation is retaliation for Murtha's opinion on the war."

Just when you thought the Dems had hit rock bottom, the Dems get out a jackhammer.

I take offense at the grunt remark. While your assesment of Murtha is correct, I would never place Murtha in the same class as the honored grunts . Most grunts are smarter than you would think. The reason a lot of grunts do their grunt job is that they know it is a necessary and proud job. It may be dirty but we can get it done.
