"Pres. Bush's penchant for handing out nicknames to those around him strikes again! And while GWB and GHWB lovingly refer to one another as '41' and '43' respectively, White House insiders say GWB is now referring to Condi as '44' ... developing ..."

Politics is the art of the possible

Ah, but statemanship is the art of leading the country to a place greater than merely brokering the "possible." If you do not think 20 to 30 million abortions deaths generated from a judicial decree to be important, we simply have a different value system

See my reply #20 and you will see that my position is not racist. Also my comment 124: Find me a Black female with charisma who is right on the issues and I will lead the charge.

But, if you want to wallow in your self rightesnous and be smug over your initial snap judgments, bitte.

Uh, maybe when you have the courtesy to articulate, "it."

I see that you claim the term "black ice" in reference to W's politics. Good political poetry, that, but a shame the term is now unavailable as a nick* for a cool political customer like Condi.

(*I believe that this shortened form of the word "nickname" is a Barney Fifeism.)

(BTW, I dissent just a bit from your explanation elsewhere of the nature of "black ice" on roadways. You say that "Northern and mountain drivers are familiar with the condition, usually to their detriment. If you drive slow enough, it is not a problem." I live in the southeast where we have a lot of moisture but not much snow. Black ice is very common. There are many relocated northerners in my area who annoy us locals with boasts of their prowess at winter driving. We take great delight in their many crackups every winter during black ice conditions. Also, I question your notion that merely driving slow is the solution to black ice. Although slow is better than fast, traction can approach zero and ~any~ effort to brake or change direction can be futile on black ice, regardless of speed.)

"The article ll powers do not include anointing your friends to rule over us."

Anointing? I hardly call this an anointing. We do have elections you know. You are still entitltled to yours, and President Bush is also entitled his.

I think you are right.

I would not be surprised to find out that the President calls Gonzales "Scotus."

The President hassles people a LOT. But after the President hassled Gonzales publically, there were still people around here that were absolutely sure he was "hinting" about his choice.

If you don't like Condi and she runs, don't vote for her. Big Deal.

Other than that, it's just teasing.

I guess maybe the only way she could be more to the left and still be in the GOP is to offer a gun control bill ...

Actually, Condi is more solid on the second amendment than just about any Republican of prominence, especially our President. She has committed the rare act of acknowledging what the 2nd is for.

I would like to be wrong but recent history is not reassuring.

Neither is ancient history, but don't let that stop you.

Abortion is only one issue, and it is not at the top of my list. Of course I would prefer someone who will work against abortion, especially those funded by government. Continuing the WOT, national security, strong military, immigration, federal spending, IRS reform or elimination, husbanding our national resources in a productive way, and are all other factors I consider before voting.

Exactly, and particularly because the things like not giving up on the WOT is something a president has much more power over than abortion.

I'd vote for Condi in a heartbeat.

It's a possibility when guys like Tancredo, Buchanan, Nader, and Kuchinich are still possibilities in their little circles as well.....

Still and all, she hasn't held an elective office yet. She could be a very very strong VP candidate, but I don't personally think she could carry the top of any said ticket.

That also said, I probably WOULD vote for her at this time, mainly because of who her opponent will probably be. Condi's stances are the issues are still too murky at this time, but if she truly doesn't want to run, it fits.

If the candidate is not pro-life - I mean, at least Republican Party Platform pro-life - they will not get my vote. Period. And if they don't adhere to the platform especially on major issues such as protecting innocent life, they do not deserve the nomination, the support of the RNC, or the votes of any self-respecting Republican. I refuse to vote for a pro-abortion crony just because the opposing Democrat candidate is truly awful. Run a pro-abort as a Republican (Rice, Guiliani, etc) and the Republicans are guaranteed to lose the White House. And they would deserve to...
