Amazing how a thread I originally posted back in Dec. 2005 can come back to life.

I still think Condi Rice will be the next President of the United States. She will be taking over for VP Dick Cheney later this year or early January 2007 before the next State of the Union address by President Bush. She will be the 'chosen' one and no candidate out there will have a chance against her, Republican or democrat.

Tragically, enough Americans do not understand this sort of sophomoric twittery that it costs conservatism.

Where is Cheney when we need him?

Cheny would make an great president. Unfortunately, I think he is unelectable. In the same manner Robert Bork would have made an excellent supreme court justice, but was derailed by the left's lies and distortions, Cheny wold be lambasted with garbage about the hunting and Halliburton.

She wouldn't be my first choice, but she's worlds better than anything the dems are likely to trot out.

About a post from 7 months aged, ripened, and otherwise forgotten:

Lighten up. You are over the top and may lose conservatives from the cause.

Rule number one:

Do not condescend to your betters, it's dangerous.

Rule number two:

Have a care about what you said before, lest it leave the dear reader at best amused and, worse, contemptuous for its lack of gravity.

You accosted me after seven months, approximately 210 days, to engage me in a dispute about a post that was seven months old. The sum total of the evidence which you adduced, and the pathetic totality of your insight :

Coming from a family that loves to tease, I understand Bush.

Rule number three:

Have a care to at least pretend to a modesty which you may not possess:

Having proclaimed to the entire cyberworld the mores of your own family, we are left to wonder why you do not more frequently reveal to us the inner workings of the First Family, because it so marvelously parallels the dysfunction of your own.

Rule number four:

Always leave them wanting. You are wise not to have violated this rule. You were very clever not to reveal to us the rest of your family's dirty laundry. This may surprise you, but the truth is nobody cares about your family neuroses, .

If you require further instruction merely ping me, I suggest you do it by private mail, I will respect your confidence, that the rest of FreeRepublic need not participate further in your humiliations.

Your gentle mentor,

Nathan

It never ceases to amaze me how odd some FReepers are. It is not dirty laundry to have a sense of humor. Are you so lacking in one?

It's gonna take a long time and several intermediates before we can exepct to elect a true conservative to the White House. Eventually it WILL happen.

You are a condescending snot who has come out of the ether woodwork unprovoked after seven months to patronize me and when I react you accuse me of a want of a sense of humor.

I think you lack a sense of decency.

The issue on the thread is that Bush jokingly calls Condi "44". I think it's funny. I appreciate hearing about Bush's funny nicknames for people. I am sorry you don't appreciate my sense of humor; but it does not warrant having you suggest I am airing my dirty laundry or a lack of decency. You are taking this much too seriously. Let it go and smile. And have a great day.

Spiff, you are slandering Dr. Rice when you misrepresent her views as you have. Abortion is wrong, but so is lying.

SHE herself explains what she means:

"I'm very comfortable with the president's view that we have to respect and need to have a culture that respects life. This should be an issue pretty infrequently because we ought to have a culture that says that, ?Who wants to have an abortion? Who wants to see a daughter or a friend or, you know, a sibling go through something like that?? And so I believe the president has been in exactly the right place about this, which is, we have to respect the culture of life and we have to try and bring people to have respect for it and make this as rare a circumstance as possible.?

"[I'm a] kind of Libertarian on this issue, and meaning by that that I have been concerned about a government role in this issue. I'm a strong proponent of parental choice, of parental notification. I'm a strong proponent of a ban on late-term abortion. These are all things that I think unite people and I think that that's where we should be.

"What I do think is that we should not have the federal government in a position where it is forcing its views on one side or the other. So, for instance, I've tended to agree with those who do not favor federal funding for abortion, because I believe that those who hold a strong moral view on the other side should not be forced to fund it.

"I've called myself at times mildly pro-choice.....That's what that means. I think that there are a lot of things that we can unite around, and that's where I would tend to be."
