We're actually agreeing on many points. Weird twists of fate have put me in contact with Hollywood types both on the business and creative side. The discussion we're having is identical to one that's been going on in Hollywood for twenty years...without conclusion.

Today a bunch of ex-hippies are big time liberal Democrats.

You are obviously falsely implying or suggesting that only Democrats did dope. A lot of people from both sides of the isle, and elsewhere in D.C. did dope. Some still do. Buy you notice they haven't passed any laws requiring themselves to be randomly drug tested as many citizens now are forced to do?

It was later, I learn that Susan Atkins murdered some actress. I figured out, without a doubt, the freak was Charlie. Charles Manson. Like John, and Mark "David" Chapman, and those freaks, they dropped acid and all of that. Hippie hippie hippie. The freaks, they took DMT. That was real bad stuff, it would tear their head off and spin it.

And I also find it suspect that you would compare "Mark David Chapman", a brutal senseless murderer, and of all people, "Charlie Manson" to John Lennon.

That basically destroys any credibility your "write up" may of had.

Love this site, sharing it with friends and family. How can I make CD's of the shows? I know, may sound like a stupid question for those in the know, but I don't know how to. I stopped downloading music a couple of years ago, ruined my computer...was downloading from Kazaa..or something like that. I am now listening to the last show I attended. Wonderful memories!

Well...I'm just learning myself. I'm a dinosaur...I have hundreds of Dead cassettes that I still haven't transferred to cd, I always have been blessed with connections for live music. That site is awesome.
You need to download a show to your computer. Find a show you want, under "download show- choose "HI FI" and right click on Save Target As.....that will save it to your computer. From there you need to have someone walk you thru the process...I just learned myself and couldn't walk you thru it....but I will say that it is not that hard. You can download to a cd that will play anywhere.....let me know if that helps...

Good post! Well, Lennon was one of the biggest libs of all time, but I still cherish my Beatles and Lennon LP's. In a DVD I bought at Wal Mart entitled "Fun With the Beatles" and Beatles "Unauthorized." (in the $5 pile) one interviewer asked Lennon what the inspiration behind Eleanor Rigby was, he replied......."Two Queers."..........good stuff.

Light another candle for.....

Announcer: And now, Weekend Update, with Chevy Chase.

Chevy Chase: [ talking into the telephone ] No.. I love it when you make noise. Remember when.. [ notices the audience, hangs up telephone ] Good evening, I'm Chevy Chase, and you're not!

Our top story tonight: Generallissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.

Secretary of State Henry Kissinger stated today that he is tired of using his silly accent in public, and will speak in English. This will in no way effect the content of what he has been saying.

In spite of recent allegations of rampant homosexual activities in the professional sports world, from hockey to harness racing, many team owners and executives deny the existence of such practices. Commissioner of Baseball, Bowie Kuhn, and NFL Head, Pete Rozelle, could not be reached for comment this weekend, in the Bridal Suite of the Americana Hotel.

In a speech to the Athens, Georgia, Chamber of Commerce, presidential contender George Wallace said, "I don't judge a man by the color of his skin. I judge him according to how well you can see him in the dark when he smiles."

Chevy Chase: Weekend Update recognizes its obligation to present responsible opposing viewpoints to our editorials. Here to reply to a recent editorial, is Emily Litella.

Emily Litella: I'm here tonight to speak out against busting schoolchildren. Busting schoolchildren is a terrible, terrible thing. I hear this is going on all over the country. Mean policemen arrest little children and put them in jail in the wrong neighborhood, so they can't even play with their little friends. Imagine, busting schoolchildren! The food in jail isn't good, and even though they get bread, I don't believe they can get toast. Or nice cake. Now, who will tuck them in? Where will they hang their leggings? Where will they set up their little lemonade stands? Well, they don't have toys in jail, except maybe..

Chevy Chase: [ interrupting ] Miss Litella?

Emily Litella: Yes?

Chevy Chase: I'm sorry. The editorial was on bussing schoolchildren. Bussing. Not busting.

Emily Litella: Oh. I'm sorry. Never mind.

UNICEF fell under attack this week when Syria formally protested the charity's new Christmas card, which says, in ten different languages, "Let's kill the Arabs and take their oil!"

Chevy Chase: Our final story tonight: Frank Sinatra celebrated his 60th birthday this week, with a party aboard his luxury yacht, the S.S. Hoboken. One humorous note: a minor accident occured when the yacht struck an autograph seeker who was swimming toward it. Always the joker, ol' Blue Eyes chuckled later, "Well, I guess it's simply another case of the ship hitting the fan." No damage to the yacht; the swimmer was killed instantly.

Chevy Chase: And now, as a public service to those of our viewers who have difficulty with their hearing, I will repeat the top story of the day, aided by the Headmaster of the New York School for the Hard of Hearing, Garrett Morris. [ Garrett's face appears in a circle to Chevy's right ] "Our top story tonight.."

Garrett Morris: [ screaming ] "Our top story tonight..!"

Chevy Chase: "..Generallissimo Francisco Franco.."

Garrett Morris: [ screaming ] "..Generallissimo Francisco Franco..!"

Chevy Chase: "..is still dead."

Garrett Morris: "..is still dead!"

Chevy Chase: Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow.

Garrett Morris: [ screaming ] Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow!

I have no idea why I know this, but I believe that was where an art show was being held where Lennon met Yoko. He would have been a much less inteloerable hippy twit without her influence.

Or, to quote Homer Simpson:

"Yoko Ono? Ooogghhh! She ruined the Plastic Ono Band.

I can forgive Britain for the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, but not for sending the Beatles to America. The Beatles took good American Rock and Roll down the toilet. Acid rock and worse followed. They drove a stake through the heart of American Pop music so thoroughly that today, young singers can't sing. And, soccer moms make their kids listen to the Beatles telling them what great musicians they were...

At first glance, Sir, I could not quite connect your trenchant remarks with this thread.

However, after pondering Ranger's observation,(vs) I remembered that America parted from reality with the illegal accession to the presidency of The Holy Martyr, St. John of Massachusetts. If the American people could so easily be sold the myths of "Camelot," surely the Beatles can also be seen as the troubadors of a cynically marketed ersatz culture.

If these profoundly ignorant Liverpool yobbos could be sold, and readily absorb the worst of American culture, it's only natural that Americans of their generation could do the same. The Beatles share the blame for turning two generations of what should have been good, sturdy working-class Americans into useless drug-sucking twits. So useless in fact, that all over the country, businessmen are able to use their obvious deficiencies as an excuse to use illegal alien labor in their stead. "At least," the businessman's mantra goes, "They show up."

So, the worst thing about the early 60's, IMHO, was not the Beatles. It was the fact that a good sturdy, and once eminently useful American like Dwight D. Eisenhower would let John F. Kennedy steal the Presidency without so much as a whimper of protest from one Richard M. Nixon.

Perhaps moral decline is natural in democracies. There was no need to accelerate it with the timidity displayed, and still displayed, by the leaders of the Republican Party.
