Would you care to tell me what shit hole country in Africa has the knowledge and infrastructure to produce the knock-offs in the first place? Secondly, but far more important, the cost of drugs have skyrocketed due to the patent process as it stands. A pharmaceutical company will apply for a patent as soon as research suggests that they have found something that may prove to be a treatment. It's only after years of additional testing that the drug can go to market meaning that the company has to sell the drug at a very high profit to get a return on the years of research before the patent expires.

Assuming that an African nation had the ability to knock off Aids drugs it amounts to a back-end form of wealth redistribution. Even then none of the drugs cure Aids only prolong life when the average life expectancy is depressingly low already. Keep in mind that these are countries that could save millions of lives a year by using DDT to spray for malaria carrying insects but have bowed to international opinion that DDT is "bad".

Warlords take the majority of international aid and buy weapons to subjugate their own people or use it as favors to buy support from the strong. If some misguided soul were to help them build a infrastructure to make Aids drugs (or better yet drugs that might actually cure someone) how long will it be before those drugs are being sold on the black market to Europe or America with the ill-gotten gains lining the pockets of the tyrants that run the backwards continent?

You are tremendously ill-informed about Africa. It is impossible to haved a dialogue with you when you make statements as silly as this one.
