"Target Includes 'Christmas,' AFA Drops Boycott American Family Association (AFA) has announced that it is ending its boycott of Target because the company has announced that it will include Christmas in their advertising and in-store promotions. "

I frequnetly disagree with AFA but this shows real class. Any other group would have wanted compensation, legal fees etc. Jesse would want to appoint half of Target's board. AFA just got Christmas off the banned list and dropped the boycott. Very classy.

Wildmon said that many companies have decided to drop their ban on Christmas.

Target never "banned" Christmas. They merely weren't using it in their advertising.

Shame on Wildmon for not acknowledging the difference.

Ok, Target. That got my attention. Now what about the bell ringers?

Whew!!

Now everyone's safe to celebrate the birth of their Savior via gross over-consumption.

Still no sign of Christmas on their web page. Plenty of "holiday" links, but no "Christmas".

At least now, I don't feel quite so guilty about going to Target this morning to buy a lasagna for a potluck dinner tonight.

Targetr = Busted! (think it just might have something to do with slower than projected sales...just a guess).

Does anyone know which stores have changed their tune on Christmas? So far I know of Lowes, Sears, Target, and Walgreens (in 2006). I emailed KMart, Sears, Wal-Mart, and Target a few weeks ago letting them know we wouldn't be doing our shopping at their stores since they weren't celebrating Christmas. KMart sent back a vague response and Target gave me some blather about 'diversity'.

I guess they finally got the hint. Too bad most of my shopping is done. At least I shopped at stores who were reasonable from the beginning and didn't need to be convinced.

Merry Christmas!
