MICHAEL MEDVED: "Spielberg's film tries to be sympathetic to Palestinian terrorists"
Michael Medved Show KRLA 870

Michael said he saw the film but he isn't reviewing it yet. He said that "Munich" is brilliant filmmaking, but that it definitely attempts to be sympathetic to terrorists, and to Palestinian terrorists in particular. That's what some of us were afraid of. According to Medved, Spielberg will probably get a pass from people who would normally object to this kind of trash because he's Spielberg, but I disagree.

Maybe Hollywood will praise the politics and shower the film with nominations, but will people like us not object if it tries to show "both sides" of the "cycle of violence?"

I don't know what's wrong with Spielberg. I thought he supported the WOT.

Let's see-- murder some athletes, be painted sympathetically? I think Stevie'd better be ready for the fallout.
What's next, a snuggly Osama biopic?

(Replies should be as pedantic as possible. I love that so much.)

The subject of the film from what I know is following the Mossad on their mission to hunt down the terrorists and showing whatever doubts they have had about their mission. If that's sympathetic to terrorists is the matter of conjecture.

Maybe he should redo "Schindler's List," and show the Nazis in a more sympathetic light.

Already getting bad reviews. Read on on Drudge already.

It was actually criticized by some as humanizing the Nazis too much.

If it's sympathetic to terrorists I would be surprised. Spielberg is a devout Jew.

Wasn't Yasser Arafat the head of the Black September group that kidnapped the Olympic athletes?
Is that what Spielberg's afraid of?

Maybe he should redo "Schindler's List," and show the Nazis in a more sympathetic light. Yes, I want Spielberg to explore the "doubts" Nazis had while they were shoving Jews into gas chambers. Nazis were human too!
To: montag813
I would actually be interested in that. The subject of how anyone with a wife and children could commit such horrors is disturbing to say the least.

Any one who says " I hope my film will bring about peace in the middle east" is a nitwit. But hey, this is Steven Spielberg. Give me a break. This guy is a moron.

Spielberg is a devout Jew. That's funny. I remember watching an "Extra" back in the Spring, when Spielberg and Tom Cruise were in Europe doing a press junket for "War of the Worlds"...on a SATURDAY. "Devout" Jews observe Shabbos.

I said devout not Orthodox. I use the term to denote pride in his Jewish heritage. He asked his wife to convert to Judaism for the sake of their children.

If it's sympathetic to terrorists I would be surprised. Spielberg is a devout Jew.Unfortunately he's also a devout liberal.

Maybe he should redo "Schindler's List," and show the Nazis in a more sympathetic light. He probably won't make that movie, but he will have little credibility when he complains about someone else making that movie.
This one of the insidious little problems with this moral equivalence nonsense.
It's a really serious threat to our country.
