Shays, a strong supporter of President Bush's tax cuts, said killing the estate tax would not produce any significant economic incentives.Noooo....but it would get the government out of the pockets of dead people, and allow accumulated wealth to pass on to the deceased's family. "Economic incentives" have nothing to do with the perpetuation of an evil tax policy.

As a supply sider, I disagree with your analysis. The estate tax does indeed destroy economic incentive. All taxes do.

If it doesn't provide much economic incentive, then it must not provide much economic gain for the feds, so why not just get rid of it and simplify the system to boot.

It appears that you accept Shay's argument that the estate tax does not destroy economic activity, but you still favor repealing the estate tax on other grounds. You should not accept Shay's argument.
