York Teacher Charged With Having Sex With Student

YORK, Pa. A high school English teacher had sex with a 17-year-old student several times this fall, according to police who have charged her with corruption of a minor and giving him alcohol.

Robin L. Winkis, 29, had sex with the boy five times, in her home and in her car, during October and November, according to charging documents. The York woman was free on bail following her arraignment on Monday.

Her lawyer, Terrence McGowan, said Winkis was informed by the school district on Friday that it would pursue firing her. She was suspended with pay when the investigation began, but the district stopped paying her after charges were filed, he said.

McGowan declined comment on the charges.

Police said the Central York High School teacher contacted the student repeatedly via e-mail, cell phone text messages and instant messages.

“He and his family are getting the help they need to deal with this stressful situation,” York Police Detective Dana Ward said.

School officials said Winkis has taught in the Central York district for five years and has been the girls’ varsity soccer coach for three years.

As a condition of bail, she may not contact the alleged victim or his family, and may not have unsupervised contact with any minors.

I'm the only short one out of 6 siblings. I got the leftovers, and there wasn't much there! :-)

BUT...my feet do touch the ground.

Five-ten, baybee!

Heck, I'm 5'11." Knew Cruise was short...but not Mini Me short.

And when I wear those four-inch stiletto-heeled patent-leather boots . . .

Does not wear four-inch stiletto-heeled patent-leather boots... Despite Brokeback Mountain, most Texan men don't.

I don't remember teachers doing stuff like the article when I was in school.

Of course, I always was told stuff like, "You're more like a brother."

We need pictures in order to determine culpability.

What is striking is that in a family gathering I'm invisible as everyone else is 6 foot.

But the women of the family are all 5 foot 4 and under.

The way I see it:

Short people are more energy efficient. We house a soul just as large as that of taller folks, yet it takes less natural resources to sustain that soul.

Think of the resources we could save if we were all short. Buildings could be shorter...saving much raw material. Clothing would require less material.

AND it took much less food to get me fat than it would to get YOU fat.

;-D

My brothers are 6' and 6'4". My sisters are all over 5'6" (not tall by all standards, but tall by MINE.)

Mama's 4'10"...but she's in her 80's and she's lost a couple of inches. I may catch up...er...down with her.

But then nobody would see the spectacle of me blushing when I speak at my eye level and then realize the target for speech is far higher than that.

I've lost one! I'm 53, so I guess I'm on schedule.

It's good to not worry about dusting the tops of china cabinets. I don't worry about what I can't see.

But the floors are clean.
