It's against the law and when he was caught he claimed not to have know it was against the law.....cough, cough.
Yes, he could be a spoiler, and there may be little we can do to prevent that.
The one slim hope would be to express such hostility toward McCain that he is driven even further to the left, thereby appealing only to Rats and spoiling the election for Hitlery, not for us.
Yeah, sorta like Algore.
I believe it too.
Vietnam was largely Catholic.
Wait a minute, maybe this could account for the fact that McInsane came out of the camp heavier than when he went in?
That's not true at all.
McInsane and Dusty Harry tag teamed to dis POW and MIA families during hearings in late 80 or early 90....I've never forgotten. At one time, I had the transcripts. And several nasty letters between myself and Harry (he was my senator, then)I have despised McLame for a very long time..
I'll bet it's seared, just seared into his memory.
That. . .or we start making a case against 'short' Presidents. . . ;^)
My recollection of that event was that he was told in advance. . .no photos - did it/used them anyway. . .
(Or was that algore. . .or Kerry. . .) Whatever; Libs certainly have a admirable 'MO'. . .
The man is already exploiting his POW status, similar to the gigolo and his VN 'service'.
What line of work was daddy in?
Not sure how the story about his weight gain got started.
However, I am unwilling to give the man any slack at all. He betrayed the men left behind after his release.
Incoming FR mail but give me a minute or two.
Both his father and grandfather were Admirals in the US Navy.
All broken bones McCain
Little boys Frank
'My husband did not rape that woman Jaunita' Hillary
John, what's his name who claimed to have served in Vietnam
The lady who feels that Osama was a wunderful guy who built day care centers for tiny tots
And many, many more.....
For God's sake, these are supposed to be our leaders BUT it sure seems to me that they are losers.......
"What line of work was daddy in?"
It was his dad or uncle. I think an admiral or a Senator.
If it's not true, why have so many people mentioned this, among other disturbing things about him? Scroll up and read about his little photo op at Arlington National Cemetary.
And dthe same people who were impressed by Kerry. . .are impressed by McCain. . .
I hope the Repubs do not wait too long to get the truth of McCain. . .whatever it is. . .up and out for public scrutiny; and well before the 'season'.
They just need to do it subtlely and with 'good taste'. . .
Hatred for McCain has bred a whole lot of lies, and the weight lie is a whopper. Ted Samplely (something like "Sampley") is one of the original smear artists.
I think more people doubt the intent of the release of the story, then the story itself. Though given the character etch he's created for himself it's not surprising his account is being considered questionable as well.
Pretty 'plain and simple'. . .
I remember his wife going on television; campaigning for his release; how hard she worked 'for' him and the other POW's. . .
Am wondering if part of her divorce decree, required 'silence'. . .
Thanks. I didn't know. His kinfolk must be rolling in their graves.
Okay, since no one has provided a legitimate source for the weight gain, I'll file it as a rumor. Understand that I took John McCain at face value for years, thanks to MSM. Heck, I knew they were lying half the time, but until I got online, I didn't know how bad they were lying.
Does Ted Sampley have a motive to smear McCain?
McCain's father and grandfather were both four-star admirals in the U.S. Navy...
I don't like him at all but I seem to remember reading this story elsewhere a good while ago. It's possible, northern Vietnam had many Catholics at one time.
McCain as a Christian? Anybody remember this nutjob's words against us in the 2000 primaries?
He just took a focus group. Don't believe this guy or his media pals.
What would his daddy and grandpa think of their boy, John?
Four star admirals, and this is how it ends...
Thanks for the ping!
Maybe his "faith" is what helped him in being about the ONLY POW who came out of his "Hanoi Hilton " stay not appearing to have eaten off the same "hotel restaurant menu" as the others.....
Did you rat him out?
And now McCain says we shouldn't torture terrorists because it doesn't work.
Put that guy in a rubber room.
US intelligence services have traditionally said that torture doesn't yield reliable "confessions" and information -- i.e., it doesn't work.
But in any case, the reason we shouldn't torture is because torture is for regimes like North Vietnam - the animals who caged our military men and treated them inhumanely. The military of the United States - the military founded by Washington, and led by the likes of Grant, Pershing, MacArthur, Eisenhower -- does not torture. McCain is against torture, I hope and believe, because it is wrong and it would dishonor this nation and our noble military.
Have you actually read about how the United States tortures jihadists? From the look of your posts, the clear answer is a resounding NO.
But other freepers have so we can enlighten you. The forms of "torture" that we've used include sleep deprivation, playing music loudly, etc. The absolute WORST torture I've seen mentioned anywhere is light punching in the stomach.
And at least you've dropped the claims that torture doesn't work because McCain in his autobiography admits that it worked on him.
I remember kerry did the same thing at the wall ( he was also told it was not authorized)after he had included in his book that he would not join vfw, partipate in parades, rallies anything to show support to american military and then had those same pics used in a campaign ad shameless ;liz cheney had it right "he will say and do anything"
don't ever forget, never in a 1000 yrs. and then he labeled the families as shrills and opportunists;his efforts enabled Kerry's cousin to secure a lucrative, sole contract to rebuild vietnam's ports. I wonder how much of a kickback he got ,deny him the presidency just like the swifties revealed the vietnam war hero "frenchy kerry"
I am sure his father is ashamed of him, just as Henry (and even Peter) Fonda were of Hanoi Jane. Henry retired from the Naval Reserves a Captain (0-6).
Which explains why he came out against them the moment they spoke the truth about Kerry.
He has now joined Christie Whitman's PAC and they're main focus is the complaint that the Christian Coalition has taken over the republican party.
Guess he hopes they're too stupid to notice he's on Whitman's PAC board.
Initially McCain said he gave up ship positions in exchange for medical treatment as soon as he was captured.
He betrayed the POWs left behind in VN.
His blaming of the Christian Coalition for his loss in the primaries, and various other backstabbing of our President does not give him the high moral ground.
Nothing 'Christian' about McCain's lack of principles.
From The Mayor's daily posts at FR's Finest and The Canteen from the devotional "Our Daily Bread" comes Sunday's reading...
World-famous Russian author Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was sent to a Siberian prison because he criticized communism. Languishing there under intolerable conditions year after year, he decided to end his life. But suicide, he firmly believed, would be against God's will. He thought it would be better for a guard to shoot him.
So at a public assembly of the prisoners, he sat in a front row, planning to get up and walk toward an exit, compelling a guard to kill him. But to his surprise, another prisoner sat down, blocking his exit. That unknown man leaned over and, to Solzhenitsyn's astonishment, drew a cross on the dirt floor.
The cross! Wondering if that fellow prisoner might be a messenger from God, Solzhenitsyn resolved to endure his imprisonment. There in prison he became a Christian and was eventually set free to bear witness to the world.
Are you in the grip of difficult circumstances? Have you wondered if life is worth living? Focus your heart on the crossit is the message of God's love, forgiveness, and saving grace for you. Invite the Christ of Calvary with His transforming power into your life. Discover for yourself that the Christ of the cross can change you. Vernon Grounds
The cross is my hope for eternity
No merit have I of my own;
The shed blood of Christ my only plea
My trust is in Jesus alone. Christiansen

Calvary's cross is the only bridge to eternal life.
You don't mention "waterboarding."
But I knew you would.
And since you are so unenlightened, I'm relatively certain you don't know that our OWN soldiers are subjected to waterboarding when they go through basic training. It's to teach them how to withstand tough questioning in the even they are captured.
But nice try anyway, churchillbuff.
What do you mean, "nice try"? Is waterboarding something you would allow? I consider it torture; so do many others, in the military and congress. The fact that our troops are trained to experience it - in case they're tortured by captors who adopt uncivilized tactics -- is hardly an argument for the United States of America to stoop to such tactics. Definitely it's something that should be outlawed by a measure such as McCain's, if that's what's required to outlaw it. Waterboarding was introduced, as I understand, during the 16th century wars of religion, as one of the options to using the to the rack on heretics.
Isn't that interesting... Hmmm....
"Four star admirals, and this is how it ends..."
Yep. Kind of sad..
Oh, okay. So waterboarding should be outlawed. For our troops and the terrorists. I'll give you that -- if it's outlawed for our troops, then outlaw it for the terrorists. But otherwise, forget it.
waterboarding is much too nice when we’re dealing with murderous barbarians. we are up against scumbags that will do anything to kill us and you want to bring a pocket knife to a gunfight?? if it would prevent another terrorist attack on our country, i would support even keelhauling. get real, this is not comic books....
