Agreed. As a Catholic I do not support thre death penalty.

I think the death penalty is overused. However, if someone has killed on multiple occasions and remains a lethal threat to guards or other prisoners, executing them, IMO, saves lives and is a pro-life stance.

Why does he even need to make an "announcement" ? There should just be a press release, and not give this issue any more attention...

Maybe he's doing this to give the Korean shop owners in L.A. time to buy defensive ammo.....

Racism at its worst. If Tookie was white, this would be an open and shut case. He would be fr1ed.

I see the need to use lethal force in self defense and war, but he is in a cage. Let him rot there.

I think the sentence should be carried out. If Williams has truly repented and made what atonement he can from prison, fine--if God chooses to allow him into Heaven, he can continue his atonement there.

He has, however, forfeited his right to continue his earthly life, no matter how sorry he may be now about having murdered four people.

Ahnold DOES NOT have to announce anything...just let it happen.

Nah... that's no good.
Even if he decides to let it happen, he should say so, just to give Tookie time to make final peace with his Maker.
I doubt Tookie would actually take advantage of that. But still, it's the right thing to do.

As a Catholic I do not support thre death penalty. The position of the Holy CHurch is clear on this.

In your opinion, what is the proper relationship between Catholic doctrine & the actions of American government? In other words, why should your personal moral & religious opposition to the death penalty have any bearing on public policy?

I do not grant any human being the right to decide when another human will die.

I thought thats all athiests did was to decide to be their own God?

He's going to get clemency.

I think you are right. Why else would he go on tv. Whenever there is no clemency, you usually don't hear from the governor at all....

I have this belief for three reasons:
1. It is to mercieful. If I was in jail fo rlife I would welcome death. Better I say to lock them up and let them rot.

2. The teaching of the church.

3. The possiblity (not in this case though) of an innocent man being convicted.

"Watch March of the Penguins and tell me there is no God!"

I have watched it. In my opinion, there is no God. How's that?

No nature film is going to demonstrate the existence of any deity to me. I can, if I choose, demonstrate the evolutionary steps that led to the amazing behavior of penguins in that part of the world, including the gradual changing of the climate there.

It's pretty amazing, but it's not any sort of proof of deities. Sorry.

Where did you all hear that Arnold himself would be giving the news? It is my understanding that he would NOT be doing this himself.
