I suspect that they will get tacit permission and the howells of Iran will be hopefully covered up by the mourning of some of their more rabid politicians being killed in the raid. Just how good is our intelligence and just how many Iranians have turned. Thats the real question. If our intelligence services are really as incompetent as they appear, we're in for a bumpy ride anyway.

Addendum: Most important is our will to kill the people who are planning to kill u;. The survival instinct is very strong among the survivable. If we truly lack it, we wont.

One can only pray that Israel doesn't act alone,
and that WE are successful.

Israel should be moved to Europe.

All Israeli's to France. All French to Israel.

Seems like a winner.

Alternately, swap IRAN and Israel?

Or maybe Israel to Zimbabwee (Rhodesia) and Mugabe and all to Israel.

Should help promote diversity.

I think it is interesting that the conventional wisdom was that Entebbe was too far away for Israel to rescue the hostages... they did it...without gaining permission from nations. Kenya did allow them to refuel on the way back.

Same thing happened in Iraq. They did not seek overflight permission, they retrofitted their aircraft with the fuel tanks necessary to make the trip.

If Israel decides to take out the nukes, they won't seek permission, they will retrofit their aircraft to make the trips, or make a secret deal to refuel somewhere...maybe with their own tankers...

Again, they have flown over enemy territory before, without permission, and without detection...

Never underestimate their ingenuity... their skill...or their determination.

"If our intelligence services are really as incompetent as they appear, we're in for a bumpy ride anyway."
Don't forget our military Intel don't take steps to put our guys in harms way unless they are certain of success. We have our Storming Normans, but they go into hollywood mode once G2 gives the go ahead. Surely Mossad would not deceive the IAF nor the USAF if things where really going down. But I still think these public announcements are misinformation. If the Israelis where planning such a mission no one in the world would have a clue until after the fact. I hope you don't equate the CIA, NSA etc. to our Army,Navy/Marine, Airforce Intel groups. But are we not digressing a bit. The issue is if Israel is really planning an attacked on various nuclear and support facilities in Iran. Like I say I am negative on the accuracy of these articles, but not on the need to lay waste to the Iranian entities short of killing their peoples in nuclear strikes targeting civilian populations. The question remains. How does one take these goons out. Same goes for Syria. Anyone with a little political savy understands we just can't be mashing these countries up without in essense undoing the good this administration is attempting to accomplish in Iraq.
IMHO, Iraq was a very special case, ripe for so many good reasons, with the local geography and proximity to the Persian gulf to pull off what we did. It will not be the same in Iran and Syria. With Iran short of total multi divisions making landings and air drops from the Persian gulf then tanking up to Theran with all that goes with this type ground air warfare, I see little chance of taking these regieme out unless it is done by counter revolution.

"...Same thing happened in Iraq. They did not seek overflight permission, they retrofitted their aircraft with the fuel tanks necessary to make the trip."
The African deal was far different. A simple commando raid on an airport. The 81 strikes on the Osirik nuclear plant was carefully thought out with the knowledge they would be returning on jet fuel fumes at best. As you probably where aware they flew the whole way once entering northern Saudi airspace just below ground clutter, and and rather low speeds, under 350 knots the whole way in, and not much more on at the higher altitudes I believe over 18K on engress. It was a risk.
This time around it would be an entirely different proposition. One would not be going in with just eight F16s and six F15s, flying at super low altitudes the whole way in. Grant you if they can make arrangements with the Iraqis to overfly as well as with the Jordanians then OK, they can pull it off, at least take out above ground facilities such as the main reactor, but they are not going to eliminate all the stuff that has been moving underground. And the Russkies will just build them another reactor(s).
I just don't think they are going to be given permission from the US to overfly Iraq. It would really piss off the Iraqis at this point. And greatly undermine what we are trying to do in Iraq. Let us not forget, the Arab and Persians don't think the same as say Americans do when it comes to bombing the hell out of another Muslim country. Saddam is gone. The Iraqis in majority are not hell bent on attacking Iran. Are they? I just see how easy it is going to be for Israel to just fly over three soverign countries and get away with it, since they have not been directly attacked by none of the three, let alone world opinion slipping back to be totally against them instead of just partly against them. Sticky situation to say the least. And lastly if you where the Israeli government and military would you be forcasting when you are going to attack Iran?
Something is not right here.

Heck no, I wouldn't advertise it. That's why I don't believe the article. Last thing I want to do is alert anyone.

The African deal wasn't that far different. 1976, four Hercules and a command Boeing all flying low, under the radar into countries that would not give the Israelis fly over rights. If it were not from Kenya, they might not have been able to do it.

What I'm suggesting is that the Israelis are an imaginative, determined, and plucky bunch. I would not put limits to what they can and will do when their security is at risk.

Besides the US... who else could pull it over. And who, knows...The Jordanians might agree...and who knows, the Iraqis might agree also. They might not want a nuclear Iran on thier border. The last thing we should ever do is make overgeneralizations about what the Arabs will and will not do... Besides, the Iranians aren't Arabs, and to most Sunnis, they are barely Muslim...

Agree. Shiite are infidels and common animals to Wahabist and Salafist. And certainly I have voiced long dreary dialogs in the past as how there are great differences between the Persians and Arabs in general etc.. But these clowns always seem to band together when it is Muslim against the rest of the world, especially when the Israelis enter the loop.
At any rate, as we suspect this article may simply be producing extra ergs to be burned up in needless dialog. Not that I do not mind debating folks that make good points which has happened in both cases in these threads.
