Remember, early in the war when Bush called on all the ROP folks to come on over to Iraq and take on the US? That is why we went to Iraq.
The WMD was an argument offered to get France on board and was one of many concerns for the US. Sadam's refusal to cooperate with the cease fire agreement/wmd inspection explains why we chose to use Iraq as the battle ground for the main purpose of the war - drawn in, kill, caputre and gain intellegence on the ROP.
We needed to deal with all the Islamonazis trained for jihad while Reno and Clinton's were running around the country looking for "extreme right" terrorists - like hate speech perps, abortion protestors, smokers and gun owners.
One other thing: We are not in Iraq for the purpose of building democracy and heating their shacks. We are there to fight terrorists and to make amends to the Iraqi people, we are trying to give them a chance to change their destinies. If they fail to grasp freedom, liberals will claim we "lost the war" as if the central purpose of the war was to establish freedom in Iraq. The central purpose is to kill, capture and gain intellegence on the jihadis stationed around the world - but especially in the US and Europe.
