Does this ban Waterboarding? If it does then McCain just screwed the intelligence agencies.

And in McCain's own words and deeds he has admitted torture works.

What a dirtbag.

Can't stand the man. He reminds me of Peter Lorre.

Well, for past offenses, any prior act would be "ex-post facto". Under the constitution, no new prosecution can ever be made under a law not in effect at the time of the act.

Are all of those NAY votes veterans?

Very good question. I don't know the answer to all, but my nay voting Senator was a Marine.

Waterboarding wasn't illegal before, so it looks like it isn't illegal now.

If you see those definitions and find out more, could you try and remember to ping me? Thanks; and I'll do the same.

White House Closer on McCain Torture Ban

By LIZ SIDOTI
Associated Press Writer

December 15, 2005, 11:50 AM EST

WASHINGTON -- After months of resistance, the White House has agreed to accept Sen. John McCain's call for a law specifically banning cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of foreign suspects in the war on terror, several congressional officials said Thursday.

The congressional officials spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they did not want to pre-empt an expected announcement later in the day at the White House, possibly by President Bush and McCain.

I'm sure it's not easy to determine whether this really impacts current legalities pertaining to torture; if you see an explanation that makes sense of this bill, could you please ping me? Thanks.

Note: "#" in front of the name indicates a combat veteran.

Remember those commercials with the White Flag being waved before the faces of Democrats who opposed the Iraqi War?

It needs revision.

Once again, George Bush has demonstrated he is an idol with clay feet.

Once again, as in McCain-Feingold, he has collapsed like a cheap deck of cards in the face of this publicity seeking, media pandering traitor who is lusting to be Bush's successor.

NEVER, would I EVER vote for that fraud John McCain, that callow, cowardly, pusillanimous piece of offal who osculates the derriers of the cheapest media radicals at the drop of a hat. He would sell his soul, his gradmother, his wife, and the U.S. Constituion to sit in Washington. His infinite obsequiousness to the America-hating left is beyond any adequate description.

The "NAY" votes are just about a complete list of Senators who would match the FR definition of "conservative". So the next time you hear talk of a Republican Senate majority, remember that the "conservative majority" is nine votes. ;)

It's really not a bad thing that the US goes on record saying that we don't accept torture as a policy.

We are already on record that we don't accept torture. Read the damn thing ... would prohibit "cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment"

TAKE NO PRISONERS - end of problem!

a measure requiring the humane treatment of prisoners in U.S. custody

Yes....I can see why this is so worrisome.
