Morgan Freeman says the concept of a month dedicated to black history is "ridiculous." "You're going to relegate my history to a month?" the 68-year-old actor says in an interview on CBS' "60 Minutes" to air Sunday (7 p.m. EST). "I don't want a black history month. Black history is American history."

"You should have thought of that before you decided to decorate your bar with my friend"

Personally it seems like the vast majority of blacks couldn't care less about history. For that matter a pretty sizable cross section of America is the same way.
The actor says he believes the labels "black" and "white" are an obstacle to beating racism.
I agree with Freeman. We are more segregated now than we were ten years after the first Civil Rights acts. As long as you label people, you will have problems.
But there is MONEY to be made labeling people. And careers. Jesse Jackson is just one of many. Morgan Freeman is correct, of course, but we have trod too far down the PC diversity quota road to turn back now. Dem-O-rats just don't have much platform to go on, so the race card is the old worn-out standby. If only they would follow MLKs dream.
Another man with brains. This is getting scary!
It is not "Black History" or "White History" it is American History. It is a fact. As surely as the Mayflower sailed with the Pilgrims, the Middle Passage is our National Journey too. George Washington was father to our nation but Harriet Tubman was our Mother
Embrace highlighting the contributions of our Black American ancestors to the American Experience. It is part of us Americans, contributing to our uniqueness, inseparable from the whole.
"Black History Month" is so named to be divisive by those who benefit from that separation. The contributions of Black America is our Nation, our American History.
Finally, a well-respected voice of reason from the black community who has hit the nail squarely on the head...
Cosby was also a voice of reason and the race baiters criticised him for it.
Wow, who'da thunk Freeman would say that!
Cosby also spoke some sense last year and they were all over him.
Way to go Freeman! Plus - thanks for saving us from that asteroid when you were President!

black history was started by some to call attention to the history that they thought was not told. 25 years ago that may or may not have been needed. Whatever the case, it long ago outlived any stated need and just serves for some to control what teachers put on their walls for a month and an opportunity to extend victimhood.
