Barack Obama has been in Washington less than a year, but our junior senator already has a Hollywood superstar -- known for his own political passions -- talking up a future Obama presidential bid.
George Clooney told the Sunday Times of London he understands Obama's reluctance to even talk about a run for the White House this early in the game. ''Of course he doesn't want to right now; he just wants to be a senator for Illinois,'' said Clooney, who clearly has heard Obama's continual mantra: ''I just want to be a workhorse [in the Senate], not a show horse.''
Yet, the actor and filmmaker makes a valid point about Obama's eventual appeal on any national ticket: ''He could attract the two groups who rarely show up to vote -- young people and blacks. He's the guy to get behind,'' Clooney told the London paper.
The former ''ER'' star's focus the past few years has been very political. In the same Times interview he criticizes Hillary Clinton and other Democrats for not fighting harder against the war in Iraq. In the 2004 elections he worked on his father Nick Clooney's unsuccessful race for a U.S. House seat from Kentucky. Both Clooney films of 2005 -- ''Good Night, and Good Luck'' and ''Syriana'' -- are strongly political, focusing on the early 1950s fight between Edward R. Morrow and Sen. Joseph McCarthy and the contemporary world of oil geo-politics in the Middle East.
''I love politics and I love issues,'' Clooney told me just last month, but he's not interested in running for office himself. ''I prefer Oprah's approach. You create a forum -- in her case, her show; in my case cinema -- where a lot of these kinds of issues can be discussed. It's not about just presenting your opinion. It's more important to have people on both sides sitting down and talking about these things. Hopefully out of all that, some sort of consensus can be reached.''
What could he possibly know about this guy? Isn't Obama a Muslim?
And, as Clooney has said (don't have the exact quote): "It's hard to find an instance when liberals have been wrong."
Something tells me Obama won't get the nod.
He is delusional. They are delusional. It scares me, having people that far removed from reality that close to power.
"It's hard to find an instance when liberals have been wrong." Sheesh.
I think Rosemary was his aunt
I'm sure he's met him at many a Hollywood fundraiser.
Isn't Obama a Muslim?
No, he is a member of the United Church of Christ.
Whew, I have been wondering which '08 candidate to really be against, now I know.

All Liberals think the same, with VERY few exceptions. Verbiage like this makes ME WANT TO SCREAM. Let's all link arms, sing Kumbaya and discuss the root causes, and we will all live happily ever after in Lala land.
He needs to go sit down and talk with some of those people who saw heads off in the Middle East, maybe watch them do it a few times before he sees reality and not idiotic fantasy. Good God.
Clooney couldn't get his father elected to Congress. How is he going to get Obama the presidency?
That being said, I could see Hitlery picking Obama as her running mate in '08.
Is the Movie Syriania, the Left Wing Garbage I think it is?
"Isn't Obama a Muslim?"
He has been in the Senate less than a year and already Clooney finds him worthy of the presidency based on his mandatory left wing fascination with left wing blacks.
The Secretary of State is black Clooney, and about a thousand times smarter than you will ever be. She also has a lifetime of experience. DISQUALIFIED
Well, Obama can kiss his chances good-bye. Clooney has just given him the kiss of death. Clooney couldn't even help his father get elected.
Yes.
"Issues shmissues, I like his shade."
What's the name of that pic where he played the part of the alcoholic derelict who ends up in the ER bleeding to death and they fish a hose in and out of his nose for about ten minutes before the aide finally allows him to mainline alcohol while he mumbles about the family who wants no part of him?
