"There is nothing that is solution-oriented in this piece of legislation"

Sounds to me like the proper first steps are proposed in this legislation.

A 300 mile fence is only, at most, a 150 mile detour for illegals

Jim Kolbe, R-Ariz., said the proposed bill "does nothing to solve the real problems of immigration. In fact, it's worse than nothing.

Glad this gay queen is hanging it up on brokeback mountain. His own cabin was vandalized by illegals but he wants more. Might be a personal choice of trade.

There was an amnesty amendment attached to this bill and it was voted down!

Now lets see what kind of spine the Senate has???

I didn't see it in the article, but this is on top of several miles of Normandy Barriers already in place in the National Parks along the border.

Great first step, and wonderful news about Jim Kolbe deciding not to chance defeat in this go'round!

This is a good start. If we don't secure the borders FIRST, then the "guest worker program" will fail as miserably as previous attempts have failed.

If we don't secure the borders FIRST, then any guest worker legislation will cause a FLOOD of illegals pouring across the borders, exponentially adding to the problems.

Secure the borders FIRST. If the Republican majorities and the Republican administration can't do that, then we throw them out in 2006 and 2008. It's that simple.

It's not as complicated as the pro-illegals politicians are trying to make it sound. We don't have to do EVERYTHING at once, like they say when we tell them to secure the borders first.

If we don't secure the borders FIRST, then the destruction of the U. S. A is certain.

Nice to hear the OBL'ers squeal. They sure are pathetic, aren't they?

This is fantastic. Looks like even a handful of Dems came on board as well.

"Another provision that was not voted on was one that would have denied citizenship to babies born in this country to illegal entrants."

This is one that seriously needs to be addressed. Another is their seemingly unlimited access to "free" services.

" Plans call for at least two layers of reinforced fencing, plus the installation of additional barriers, roads, lighting, cameras and sensors."

They'd better make sure it includes a plan to prevent tunneling. The invasion of parasites will not be easily deterred.

"And thirdly, you have to deal with the 10, 11, 12 million people who are already in this country illegally."

Buses. Lots of buses....and armed escorts.

"There is nothing that is solution-oriented in this piece of legislation,"

I guess it depends on what your definition of "solution" is. It looks to me like a heck of a good start, if it ever actually gets implemented. It needs to be more comprehensive though.

"they could have "disastrous economic consequences for our country" given the high demand for foreign workers."

I think what he really meant to say was,"they could have "disastrous economic consequences for illegals and those who hire them our country" if lawmakers given give in to the high demands for foreign workers Americans are making that they secure the borders."
