I would guess that this would be the Senate Intelligence Committee. Wasn't Kerry on that Committee? (Even though he never attended, he would have been briefed by ??????).

All these things lead back to the Kerry camp....Rathergate, Berger, Wilson....now this.

I'm glad he responded to this quickly but why just a radio address?

The President announced yesterday that he will address the nation at 9:00 PM EST on Sunday. I think that the Congress is in for a beatin' about the Homeland Security Act and leaking the eavesdropping program.

I expect that the Homeland Security bill will be passed early next week. I Marvel at the rapidity of Bush's response to these two issues.

It is you that is in error and is whining. What have you accomplished with this whining? Nothing.

#1. When anyone, including myself, suggests on various threads where a leftist is spinning that there was no prior relationship between Iraq and Al Qaeda that the president counter this absolute lie, you go ballistic and call us whiners.

This completely ignores the fact that a) when we post links to the previous relationship between Iraq/AQ that goes back to the 90's, we are giving information to freepers to use in their daily interaction with leftists; and b) lets the press know (because we know they read FR) that we're onto their lies.

2. When you say that our "whining" does nothing to help the administration, you again ignore the fact that lots of freepers and I have said that we've written Congress and letters to the editor, and most particularly about the issue mentioned in #1.

3. What's really interesting is this example. Suppose that yesterday freepers suggested the president let the nation know that he had informed Congress of the fact that they've been brief dozen of times about this spying matter. You call that kind of post a whine. And yet here we are today and the president did exactly what freepers wanted him to do. So I would say that freepers are pretty smart and have seen through the leftist's lies and merely want the president to try and make sure the uninformed public who doesn't freep knows the truth as well.

Your constant mantra that people who make suggestions are whiners is really old and accomplishes nothing. Why don't you get off the stick and start thinking about how to counter the left's lies and make sure that freepers are armed with the facts instead of attacking freepers?

Or by the States, see Article V of the Constitution for details.

The DemocRATS and their toadies in the MSM are making the war on terror a lot harder than it needs to be. That, my friend, is treason. Remember 09-11-01.

My point is - how many ongoing domestic terror investigations are now compromised because of this information being made public?

My memory is a little vague but I'm sure there are other Freepers who will remember.

On 9/11 when the President was in Florida and the SS were trying to get him onto Air Force One, there were messages sent that required a top secret security code. I don't remember the nature of the messages but it indicated that someone -supposedly the bad guys - knew the codes.

Any other freepers remember?

OK but dosen't a proposed amendment need congressional approval before the states get to vote on it?

Where is the news in this story? There is nothing illegal about what the president authorized - no one has even seriously questioned its legality. It is, however, treasonous. Interesting that members of congress were informed about this and they kept their mouths shut, until now at least perhaps. But of course the media cares nothing for our security.

Out of curiosity I googled and found:

"Shortly after takeoff, Cheney apparently informed Bush of "a credible threat" to Air Force One. [AP, 9/13/01 (D)]...The Secret Service had received an anonymous call: "Air Force One is next." The caller allegedly knew the agency's code words relating to Air Force One procedures. Pilot Colonel Mark Tillman was told of the threat and he asked that an armed guard be stationed at the cockpit door. The Associated Press reported that the threat came "within the same hour" as the Pentagon crash (i.e., before 10:00 a.m., roughly when the plane took off). [AP, 9/13/01 (D)] Details suggest this threat was not the same as the earlier one, but it's hard to know for sure.

Sounds like there might have been two such threats. It is possible the article is referring to the M.E. men who claimed to be a film crew who tried to get into the resort where Bush was staying the night before.

Thank you! Got to get that "Spell check is your friend" tattoo on the back of my Right hand redone. The ink on it seems to have faded since I keep forgetting it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we lose Bin Laden in the late 90s because of a leak that we could eavesdrop on his cell/satellite phone?

Shhhhhhh.... The only leaks that we should care about are those that could be damaging to the Bush Administration. We don't need to worry about leaks on current "black operations," since those might actually help the "bad guys" (i.e. the ones that dems and MSM are rooting for) win the war, kill Americans, and make the Bush Administration look bad.

Agreed. Hugh Hewitt has the 4 Repubs links. Hegel is my personal choice for abuse via email. Called Sen. Kohl's office. Feingold is on the other side.

I heard a sound bite of Schumer saying how disgraceful it was that the spooks at Ft Meade were spying on Americans.

Isn't he the one who was having his senatorial staff do some spying on some other Americans? And, if they used government computers to do the lookup using govt databases, they could be hit with 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The reason I know that is that a lady who worked for HHS in Kansas City was also "moonlighting" as a prostitute, and she was busted for using the HHS computers to do some research on her clients! She made a plea deal, and got 4 months house arrest and 4 years probation, but her life is ruined. As former military, she's lost her military and federal benefits and pensions. She's now a convicted felon, she's probably going to lose custody of her children, and her house, since she won't be working for quite some time.

I wonder if Chuckie's "elves" are going to be hit as hard?

Mark

I'm shocked, shocked, I tell you. NOT!

What a tempest in a teapot. I'd sure HOPE that he approved some eavesdropping from time to time. Isn't it his job to protect and defend the Constitution (and the people) from all enemies foreign and domestic?

The people should have the right to re-elect any qualified person they please to any office they please as many times as they please. Including the president. Especially the president. Repeal it.

If having a judge sign his authorization would have taken the steam away from the Democrats then that should have been done every 45 days.

Someone kept the door open for the Dems to scream. That's the person who needs to be dealt with.

How in Sam Hell does the President feel comfortable having all those Clinton holdovers in his office? That is beyond me.
